  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Aside from the sheetmetal, doesn't fare too well; rear passenger space and boot is by far the tightest which is a recipe for failure when buyers having been moving to CUVs for greater utility.

Also, w/o some sort of electrification, doomed for low sales in Europe.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Reality is that it's time for the G70 to get a significant update. The difference between the 2019 and 2023 is very little other then exterior styling. When I look at the interiors of the Audi, BMW and Merc - they are another level in my view. I still love my G70 but those cars have been updated and left the G70 behind. The 2.0T in the G70 is fine but doesn't compete with the others either. It needs more power and/or a hybrid system...I drove one the other day and there's no excitement. The Hyundai Ns are all much better already.

Again, still love the G70 but Genesis, it's time....

100% agree with the above. Give me a heavily updated model worthy of buying and I'll trade in my 2019.

I don't want to be jealous of the interior and updates of the Hyundai line.

Holding it together is the fantastic ride and handling which I'm very happy with. Also quality and service up here in Canada, fantastic ownership experience.

I think 2 of the biggest missed opportunities was to go to a full digital gauge cluster and give it the 300hp 2.0 liter engine found in the stinger with the 2022 midcycle refresh. Most of the cheaper Hyundai products had digital clusters in 2022 and that updated 2.0L engine in the Stinger is a pretty good improvement over the original. Still amazes me that the Stinger got that engine and they completed skipped it on the G70. Also, I personally like that the G70 has solid buttons for things like climate control. I am still not fully sold on the full touchscreen center stack on the BMWs and Mercedes cars.

The Stinger has the new 2.5T engine since '22, I believe. But for sure for '23, and my '23 G70, still has the old (and dated) 2.0T. And I thought Genesis was the 'premium' brand, not Kia. Ha ha. And even the equally old Kona got the full digital dash, and the G70 didn't. Oh, and Genesis deleted the 'Elite' package on the 2.0T, so no more HUD, Napa, 360, etc. on the top of the line 2.0T, which I got. No wonder sales are in the toilet. Oh well. Still like the car, but with the added 2 grand to the MSRP, is hardly a great value anymore. My wife liked it's 184" long, just like her ex-'21 Tesla M3 LR, but for most people, it's too cramped. My guess is with the added 2 grand to the MSRP, it's going to sell even worse than before. We'll see.

Focus has been on the electric SUVs and other vehicles...

G70 is simply not as competitive as it once was in its class. Definitely dated when cross shopping on the fringe of the G70 price point

The three cars you mention are a solid 20 - 25% more expensive comparably equipped . And frankly the BMW and Audi have had virtually no updates in longer than the Genesis.

As far as rear seat room, give credit that the Stinger filled that void, and it is being discontinued. It did not matter to me as I would have been fine with a two door, and I can only remember anyone riding in the back once in two years, and that was a five minute ride. And we have an SUV.

Sure, they are more expensive. However, the Genesis value proposition is a car that competes in this segment for a lower price. Bottom line, they need to continue to compete. The BMW just got an update for 2023 (though I don't like it) and the Audi doesn't need one. It's great inside - I was just in one recently. Also, the G70 is lacking infotainment and features that new Hyundai's have.. that should never happen.

Having said all that, I still love my G70!

Sorry, but you are downplaying how much more expensive they are. For the difference I can buy a new really neat motorcycle! And the BMW update is every bit as minor as the 2022 G70 update.

Yes, Hyundais get better bits and pieces because they are newer and competing in a much more important (to them) market segment.

There are really no features it does not have that I care about. But I realize that is subjective. Everyone has different wants.

Well, I do agree with you and I still wouldn't spend the extra to get the BMW, Audi or Merc. The G70 is such a great buy and looks the best in my opinion. The competition all got quicker and their interior electronics more refined and fancy. The gauges on the 22+ G70 should have been full digital. The 22+ infotainment is pretty good. The 2.0T should be a 2.5T or have some hybrid setup to make it quicker and more engaging. The 3.3T is super capable but Genesis hasn't unlocked the little bit more it would need to easily compete. Good thing we can tune the car and make it really fast.

Maybe it's because I've had the car 4+ years and want it to be a shining star. In any case, it's looking like the MY2024 will get the changes I'm talking about. It may then be time to trade up!

I was torn between a M340 or the G70. The $25k (here in Canada once I equipped the BMW to my spec) price difference did not reflect the differences I felt between the cars.

Should have mine in the drive in about a week! So excited! :D

Nice. Love to hear your comparison between the two.

Not much of a comparison.
The BMW drove better with more power. The tech was on par. Front seat felt a bit better and it seemed s the door was a bit wider.

But everything that was better wasn't a lot better to me. Maybe if I still autocrossed? And that bit better didn't justify the price difference.

^ well said. i also saw a ~$20-$25k CAD difference is similarly equipped units when i looked at the 3 series. most of the auto journalists discount the price difference as well which is why zee Germans come out on top. of course the journalists have valid gripes with the G70 - trunk space, rear foot room, fuel economy, gauge cluster tech, etc - but do those items really justify the ~40+% price gap? if price is not object, then of course not. but it is, otherwise we'd be looking at M cars and others way above the G70 anyways. paying ~40% more for a "bit better" is not a justifiable answer for a lot of people, even if we could do it financially. a 340i might do everything 5-10% 'better' at the limits, either subjectively or objectively, but the G70 still does things way beyond most driver's capabilities 95% of the time.

My 2021 G70 has a full digital cluster. It's 3D in fact.

I just built out a 2023 G70 and M340i spec'd to the same and the price difference here in the states is small ($10K USD) This was a fully loaded G70 $56,725 USD. I consider the difference small because of things like fuel economy, resale value, dealer experience, etc. Those things will be better with the BMW and other brands more often then not.

I'm surprised the cost difference is so much more in Canada. I believe $10K here is roughly $14K up there, maybe less. That being said, I love my car and part of the appeal is that there are less of them. Makes it a little more special, especially since mine is modded and always usually overlooked at the drag strip. ;)

You're probably referring to the infotainment screen, or the middle portion of the dash. The dash is NOT fully digital, even for 2023, which is the year of my car. It still has the crappy non-digital speedo and gas gauges on the left side of the dash. Post a picture of yours, and we'll see if it's fully digital or not:p.

I am not mistaken. Like I said, my car has a FULL 3D digital instrument cluster. I am not referring to a multi-information display, TFT cluster, or anything else a manufacturer might call it.

Unfortunately, I'm having issues with Vimeo with uploading video. So it might be hard to see the 3D effect. The 2 purple dots that you see are eyes, one for each eyeball. No glasses needed and you can turn the effect on and off. No big deal though, here's a pic:

I wish I had the 3D dash. I looked into buying it but it's like 3K... maybe one day.

Good for you to get a car with it. Do you love it or is it not as good as I think?

$3K?! Such a huge price difference between our markets. It was only $1K usd for that option here.
