  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey, it's almost that time of the year. A much needed update is coming soon.
With changes from the previous software update I'm just hoping that this will be much better this time around.
What I'd like at least like is a bit more gain from the audio system but I'm not quite sure if that's just Genesis not pushing the system or due to hardware capabilities.
Who else is looking forward to the new update and what would you like to see improved in this upcoming version?

I would to see an option to remove the Genesis "widget" from the Android Auto/CarPlay screen so we can use the full screen! I've tried multiple times to talk to MapnSoft, Genesis Connected Services, Genesis Customer Services, etc, etc to put in a request/suggestion that they provide the option to remove this. I have never been able to get any of these groups to accept responsibility that it was "their department" so I haven't gotten anywhere.

I’d like to see two things if possible! 1: More ambient lighting choices and 2: this is my number 1 wish item! A widget with up to 12 or more choices for selecting your own screen display. The weather based displays are okay, but why not let us select holiday themes, city or town themes, nature themes etc etc etc

Man I was really wishing for more features to be added. EV routing is not useful for me.

The last update they did last fall, they added a few features. By them not adding more features, it feels like they are dedicating less time to improving this specific generation head unit, and having their engineers focus on the next generation instead and building that out. Sad.

Yeah, just downloaded it...they also threw in some sort of list of "favourite gas stations" for us ancient ICE vehicle people but nothing else is mentioned. I hope they updated the maps as they just rerouted the highway coming into my town and I'm tired of the NAV system constantly beeping at me as I appear to be driving through a field. ;) I will start updating on my way home.

I finished the update fairly quickly - nothing noticeably different yet. It is interesting that the website and the updater software both talk about how you have to keep the car running and don't put it in accessory mode, etc, etc. The update itself says you can turn the car off and the update will continue to run as long as the USB stick is left plugged in (see picture below). I tried that - and it did work. When I started the car later, the screen was totally blank until it finished processing everything (took about 4-5 minutes) and then it all started up again and had the new version installed. I wish I knew what the "proper" method was, but I'm not going to leave my car running in the driveway for 45 minutes, so I will continue to do the update on my way home (runs in the background up to 80% complete) and then just turn it off to let it finish.

Docs are almost always out of date. Instructions in software are usually the correct ones.

Seem to be the case. In the previous two updates that I did there was the option to start the car, turn it off and it continued running until it was completed. The first time I did the update I did sit in the car with it running for the duration of the time until I got the notification that the car was going to turn off which it does in an hour if you start it and just let it sit there and run idly. Nonetheless, the all took about 50 mins to complete so that was no issue.
This time around I think I want to try it out mapnsoft just to see the process so I'll wait til they have it and send it over instead.

Saw a few updates.
  • Weather panel on the right side of the screen now shows weather for the day of, within 3 hours, 6 hours and 9 hours, previously it was 3 day forecast only.
  • The date format changed on the clock on the right side of the screen, it's more elegant now, previously "05-05-2023" now "Fri, May. 5"
  • Lexicon by Harman logo shows up in the sound settings screen
  • The fingerprint screen now has text that says if you scan your fingerprint, it's the equivalent of hitting accept to the disclaimer text. I guess previously when you scanned your fingerprint, it didn't really say anything that you accepted the terms but still bypassed the screen, so I guess people sued???

Just got my new GV70 EV….are these updates and procedures pretty smooth? Never done this before and would hate to end up having to take my car to the dealership should I have a problem.

No issues...I've done two now and never had a problem. Regardless what some of the warnings say, you can turn off your vehicle or do it while you're driving...it always runs in the background as long as the USB stick is connected. The EVs might just do it over the air - none of that works for vehicles in Canada though because we are constantly ignored on some of the tech features.

Again, new guy here to Genesis. When you talk about this update…is it a combo of software and navigation update or are software and navigation updates two separate procedures? Thanks, Dave

I just tried running the update program and the GV70 Electrified isn't even on the list of selectable vehicles...I guess that means this update is not available for the 2023 GV70 Electrified?

Yes, all in one.

There seem to be OTA updates across multiple models being rolled out in May. Typical of a server-demanding process, they are probably randomly updating as many cars as they servers allow over days/maybe weeks. Still no GV60 OTA yet here but others report successful updates. 🤞

Did the update this past Friday . The one thing that I noticed was that the radio volume is now much lower . I used to have the volume set to between 25 & 30 for normal listening . Now I have to boost it up to between 35 & 40 to get the same output .
Anyone else notice this ?

Is that through AA or CarPlay? I notice the device level keeps resetting to about 45 out of 75 and you have to go into settings, sound, device - and then crank up the level to about 65-70. I just don't know why it won't save the setting! I haven't tried it since the update though.

This was with FM and Sirius .
However, this morning it's back to normal ?? Seems to have resolved itself .

Happy to see the new, wider Waze screen. Updated by Android Auto, haven't done any Genesis update yet
