  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Mass Issue: Genesis Infotainment Driver/User Profile Settings Reset Discussion

As in other posts for this issue, some did NOT loose their profiles who also had done the latest update via USB. Not enough responses yet in general to determine a strong correlation.

Just out of curiosity...was your gv80 parked outside...or in a garage...when the computer reset itself? I garage mine and there has been no change to any of my settings.

happened to me yesterday am. Called dealer and was told it was an OTA update glitch and I was the 7th such call.
Spent yesterday and part of today to restore settings. Got most of it but can't find way to have side mirrors lower in reverse.
This is an odd one, but the way it works is if you have your left or right side mirror selected (the light is on), they will lower in reverse. If you don't have either selected, they won't. Not intuitive, I know, but that's how it works.

Hey y'all, have any of y'all had your profile loaded (avatar changed and everything) and then got in the car later and the only two profiles are Driver 1 and Driver 2...all your settings, presets and everything are gone? I went into the menu, found the user profile (switch profile) menu and somehow I'm still missing?

Never lost mine, but I didn't drive it Saturday and it was in my garage.

There's a whole active thread on this; look for it. Didn't use my '23 G70 for days, and it has the latest update, and all was well today. Checking the '22 SF Calligraphy now.

Never lost mine. In the days prior the weather and traffic were missing and I never got around to doing the resync by way of the Map& Setup buttons. Not sure if this loss of connectivity is the reason my profile was not impacted by this current issue.

Mine was outside.

Had a strange thing happen today. The entire system reset itself, and right back to initial setup. All settings were wiped out. Not too big a deal to redo everything, but...why? Has this happened to anyone else?
This happened to likely thousands of users. We have two 2023 GV70 Sport Prestige. It happened to mine, but NOT the other GV70. And I don't think this has anything to do with a buggy OTA update as until Friday, I didn't even realize I needed to accept the terms for OTA, but their system is still down on that, so no OTA was sent to either of our cars.

None-the-less, I had to spend a lot of time sitting in my, setting everything up again, including my passcode, my fingerprint, pairing my iPhone again and going through every single setting to configure my car as it was, as well as reprogram every radio station I use, whether FM or Satellite. Someone really goofed up at Genesis and they should be fired for causing so many to have what likely could have been a preventable issue.

HARUMPH :-(

Ok, so since the reset I now have these two icons on my screen when I turn off the GV60. They were not there before yesterday.
I think they mean to show my scheduled charging & climate. Not a value add OTA since it caused me to lose all of my other settings.

I'm on the road and can't get past the user agreement screen. It says that my profile needs to reset, then proceeds to try to reset then asks for the smart key. And then I am stuck in an endless cycle. This is horrible.

Hello Friends. It happened to me too.
I called over the Cars Service Link. It directly calls Genesis and they answered even tough it was Sunday.
The rep send my car some patches and it fixed it.
It is a general issue and they will completely fix it tomorrow.

Do not worry. It is an easy fix.
I wonder how they “fix it”, meaning was our personal data that was lost stored in some cloud that Hyundai was/is able to restore system/car wide? I’m pretty sure once we lost all of our personal setting and it defaulted to factory settings the local storage was wiped. If all of that data is held outside of the car, that’s an issue of personal data security. I don’t recall that being laid out in the manuals/documents etc.

The big worry is that this could have been an external HACK which could explain why Hyundai and its divisions are being so quiet about it. It’s not good anyway you look at it even beyond the huge inconvenience for those of us who spent hours rebuilding our settings, not knowing Hyundai is supposedly able to restore our PERSONAL data.

Yep…this happened to me too. I used to have two profiles…mine and my wife’s…until they reset yesterday Add me to the club of very unhappy owners who now have to recreate EVERYTHING for both profiles. Genesis owes us all an explanation and an apology. This is totally unacceptable! ‘23 GV70 Sport Prestige.

All you can do is park it somewhere and reset all the data.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

I tried that but it won’t reset cause it asks for my smart key for some reason. All screwed up.

You'll have to wait until you get home. In order to reset the passcode, enter your fingerprint, etc., you MUST have both keys with you in the car. Until you do, you'll just have to drive it as it is.

Add me to the long list of VERY unhappy owners. Lost both profiles on my ‘23 GV70. All owners, whether Hyundai, or Genesis are owed an explanation, an apology, compensation for the hours of wasted time re-inputting all the settings on both profiles, modifying their update systems so that a push to all vehicles can’t happen without owner input and acceptance. Or letting us turn off the ability to let them auto update our systems. At least that way, updates can be vetted prior to trashing thousands of systems. Just really hoping this wasn’t a hack. If it was, Hyundai is going to need to really beef up their data security practices. If these vehicles can be hacked like this, it’s totally unsafe.
