  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
2G Genesis Sedan (2015-2016)
I've called 2 dealers and they said they can't do it because it is impossible. I've had other cars where manual will state lifetime transmission, however, most shops will do it. I am very skeptical of lifetime fluid as it usually mean your transmission will go at around 100k.

Service schedule does say to get serviced at 60 or 80k I believe for a 2015 Gen 5.0

You can get about 4 qts at a time out of the transmission pan. Add 4 new quarts, drive it for awhile and repeat. I did mine at 45,000. Pro active.

Finally got a dealer who is willing to do a full flush. They priced the service at ~480, including a new pan and filter. Anyone have any success going with aftermarket fluid?

Does the Genesis use a different transmission fluid than other Hyundai cars?

I believe they carry their own line of tranny fluid not sure saw someone comment on this before, the service manual also shows the type it takes.

What does the dealer call a full flush? Unless he has a BG type of machine you are only getting 4 qts plus out of the pan including the filter. You should specify the correct Hyundai fluid for your model transmission.

You should not flush your system. You should do drain and fill about 2 - 3 times and that'll do it. Safer than flushing.

My dealer did a "flush" for $200 but I'm suspicious of what the actually did. I wanted them to replace the pan and they didn't.

Did not see this post before I took it to dealer today, apparently the car now have to sit with them until Monday because they said that their pump broke and they need a new one to finish the job. I am a bit skeptical of what actually happened...

Flushes dislodges debris in the transmission. Some is removed, while the rest might settle elsewhere causing transmission issues. Prime reason not to flush a transmission.

So at first they claimed their pump broke on Saturday when I dropped it off, so they gave me a rental and said they would get a replacemement and job finished on Monday. Then came Monday, service manager calls me and said it will be Friday due to them running out of the transmission fluid...I had their mechanic send me a picture to ensure he is using the correct fluid at the start.

Does this seem sketchy to anyone? They are willing to discount the cost greatly, 290ish for transmission and differential fluid change (as opposed to 640ish).

I just had a flush done at the dealership. They described it to me as hooking up a machine that pumps fluid through the transmission and torque converter. Mine was closer to $400 though.

I took my 2015 Genesis 3.8 into the Hyundai dealer for the 60k service and they quoted $900 for a transmission flush. Claimed the fluid is $70 quart. Outrageous, I’m thinking they just did not want to perform the service.

Highway Robbery! You can buy the same stuff frim the KIA dealer for ~ $22-24 a quart. Have an Indie Mech drain & refill it for you. Not a difficult job. Do not flush.

I had mine filled by a transmission shop for like 120$

Just scheduled my 2015 3.8 rwd 60k miles for a tranny fluid exchange. At the dealer. $350
