If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Wheel Spacers

This post is mega exciting!
I hope I can sift through all the comments to find which I need to buy for stock ride height and 21’s and if I devices to lower it a bit or will it not matter since I’m not gonna go crazy???

Negative.

Also, I just ordered some new 21-inch wheels: 9.5 Front and 10.5 Rear - The goal once I get them will be to remove the spacers and put 275s on the front, 315s on the rear and call it a day!

Now it's time to start installing my Adro Carbon Fiber package....
When your new rims and tires are all own. Please send a pic! car looks great so far.
yes definitely chrome delete. Genesis has a horrible delimitation issue with that dark chrome on those cars.

Certainly, will do...

Since my new HRE FlowForm FF11 wheels have arrived, I've had all the wheel spacers removed!!

21x9.5 inch Front with 275/35 Tires
21x10.5 inch Rear with 315/35 Tires

I'll try to get some photos and post them later today...

This looks great!
Did you say it was allowed at all or still have any spacer on? Fitment is spot on.

Seems all these modern CUV’s from factory have -Camber and could use a +1 to leave the ideal contact patch.

X5’s are huge offenders here.

Congrats on a great choice!

All my spacers have been removed since these wider aftermarket wheels (and wider tires) have got everything looking just right...

Hey,

How is the ride now that it is lowered?
I’ve had a ton of lowered cars but now I’m an old man and really like comfort but really want this massive wheel gap gone. Your drop and flush look is exactly what I want visually as it looks like it should factory.

Can you please grade how your ride changed so I have an idea?

Also, I’m used to Eibach etc brands so is Storm just a clone of M&S or are they the same with the same rates etc?

I didn’t see any other options out there and I don’t mind paying for an actual premium product so if storm is the same as M&S I’ll buy those or vice versa.

I’m super disappointed to find out that our GV70 is the only vehicle in the lineup that doesn’t have the Mando suspension:( mega bummer for me as I wanted that controller to soften up the ride as the stock 21’s ride a bit rough!

I see your spacers are only $83 for all 4? The quality would scare me as I like to hit some mountain twists on weekends on local rally’s.
The other link the other person post was $300 for basic type and looked sketchy even.

Any feedback on your setup on trade offs or changes you would do is a huge help to us.

Really want to see your skirts when done and I might do the sides if it looks ok on my Red.

Full disclosure, I'm coming fresh off a lowered X3 M40i making 600HP, which I always drove in Sport+ Mode - So, it was stiff, tight, and ultra-fast ( 0-60 2.9/sec ). I drove that for 4+ years and loved every minute of it... but for a variety of reasons, it was time for a change.

I only just bought this GV70 2-3 months ago, so I've done all these mods in short order, obviously... meaning, I didn't get lots of drive time on the factory suspension. That said, I didn't notice any kind of substantial change in the smoothness of the ride, although I do feel that it is definitely taking the corners much better now, due to the extra rubber. In terms of the overall ride, it's still as smooth as butter, which is quite an odd feeling for me, compared to my X3 M40i. I wish the GV70 had the ability to electronically tighten up the suspension a bit more in Sport+ mode, especially at the $70k price point, but after all - this is a Genesis, not a BMW lol.

With regard to Lowering Spring options - At the time of this post, I'm only aware of M&S and Storm manufacturing compatible springs. I originally ordered the M&S springs. However, after waiting 4 weeks with no shipping notice, I decided to inquire about the Storm Springs. My contact at Shark Racing confirmed that he could have a set of Storm springs Delivered in 3-4 days - So I promptly canceled my M&S order and bought the Storm springs. Now, from what I've read elsewhere online - The M&S springs will take the GV70 down even lower than the Storm springs, by 3/4 inch or so. Honestly, while I think mine looks nice - I would like it to be a touch lower, but I just don't have the patience to wait months on end for products to ship. I don't know if M&S is still taking forever to ship these, you'll have to check. I do want to say that my purchase experience and level of communication with Shark Racing were phenomenal, so I highly recommend.

Spacers - Since Having Installed the Wider HRE Wheels + Wider Tires, All (4) Spacers Have Been Permanently Removed.

Oddly enough, I have noticed that it has a more cushiony feel going over the large speed bumps in my community, again the opposite of my BMW - I wouldn't have expected this, but perhaps this is again due to the wider wheel base and extra rubber. Whatever it is, I definitely noticed it, and it feels a lot better.

While I'm loving this GV70 experience - My main complaint is the transmission tune in Sport+ Mode. It's way off, specifically getting from 2nd to 3rd gear at full throttle, so I'd love to get into the software and tweak that, but for now - I'll just be using the paddle shifters. Again, I have to keep reminding myself that this is not a BMW, so I need to set my expectations accordingly, lol.

I should also mention that I did purchase the JB4 Tuning Kit which is supposed to bring an additional 100HP to the wheels. We'll see about that, as I have yet to install it. So many things to do, so little time...

Additional photos coming very soon, Stay Tuned...

Thanks for the granular details as it is very helpful to us all.

I did look up the Storm springs from shark and they advertise 1.6 Front and 1.9 Rear and M&S says they’re 1.5 Front and 1.7 rear.

Looks like Storm is actually lower or maybe the stets are off and both are negligible/ same :)?
12 weeks out for the M&S though :(.

Shark has spacers for $340 for all 4 but they visually look cheap and are for 25mm and 114.3/5 hole.

I prefer to buy a decent quality product if you know of any for our setup since I plan to leave th stock wheels on and just lower the car.
Hope your previous 25mm all around with the drop wouldn’t rub with 4 fat ass hogs?

I’m not sure about Bonoss brand but looks solid but again they don’t list for GV70 but they do have for the 458’s if indeed the same.

If you thought your previous VHT Auto spacers were solid then I might go that route as we know the 25mm and sizing is spot on for that look?

Exactly - There is no way in the world I'd wait 12 weeks for any product to be shipped to me... There's always an alternative.

If you plan on keeping your stock wheels, I'd stick with 15mm on the front. The 25s I had on were a bit too much on the front. Now, I know the 25s looked great on the rear while viewing up/down the line or face on from the side, however, I reeeaalllly didn't like the look from straight behind the car, because it just looked... well wrong.

The best way I can explain it is to imagine you're driving behind a top trim X5 starring at those nice 315s and the flush fit. Now, imagine starring at that same X5, but replace the 315s with 25mm spacers + 255 tires. It just has a weak, sort of "poser" look to it , zonk... This is why I couldn't get those spacers off fast enough and buy the new HREs which resolves every issue relating to the look/feel/performance of the wheels/tires.

Just an fyi - you can get a very nice set of aftermarket wheels in the $1500-$2000 range, and you can sell your factory wheels on ebay @ $300-$500 per wheel. So, to me - it was a no-brainer :sneaky:

To answer your question though, if you're dead set on keeping your factory wheels, I NEVER had any concerns about the durability/strength/integrity of the spacers I originally installed. I had (2) High-Performance auto shops working on the car at different points who both had their hands on the spacers and they assured me I had nothing to worry about (for whatever that's worth).

Also (for what it's worth) I actually kept the stock wheels on my X3 M40i, but I installed very similar 15mm spacers all around to get a slightly better stance. I drove and raced that X3 HARD for several years... Never had any problems with spacers.

Thanks!

I agree with your POV on this topic totally.
Think 20mm in front could be an option of 15mm like you said would be optimal?

I’m in NJ so having all season wheels on all year without much worry of the bimbo mistress work wife curbing a wheel and the main wife at home finding out would make it more easy on my stress. Plus I don’t foresee keeping this car over 3yrs don’t would add to the pile of parts to sell like I still have from my i8, M5, Tesla , Nova lol.

I’ll go with your spacers based of your next reply and also grab the springs from shark. Assuming I should have the alignment checked after 90 days of settling in as I fear the Gav70 will get that nasty inner tire wear like X5 do or maybe ask for a +1 on the camber to compensate from the squat since I stab the pedal all the time. (This truck is mega slow!)

Next topic will be that JB4+ and you lip kit on a new thread here.

Force Ten,

What size spacers would you recommend getting for the stock wheels and tires? I want to get the wheels as flush as possible with the fenders.

I would go with 25mm for the Rear, and 15mm for the Front.

20mm for the Front will be ok if you can't find 15mm. I had 25mm spacers on the Front of mine, and if you look back at the photos, while it looks good, the front tires come out more than the rear, which is why I'm saying 15mm would be ideal.

When you decide to get new Tires, you should switch to a 275-width tire all-around too, it will give it an even more aggressive stance + you'll have more rubber on the road. Ideally, you want to get even wider tires for the Rear, but 275 is pretty much the max you can safely go to on those 9-inch stock wheels.

Just an Fyi - I'm currently running 275s on the Front and 315s on the Rear with my new wider aftermarket wheels and there are absolutely no issues whatsoever with the fitment.

Someone mentioned Bonoss being the best and I contacted them for info and they gave me a direct link to them.

The odd thing is Force Ten brand is $89 and Bonoss is $539 for all 4 unless I looked at them wrong?

Due to the new tires I will get eventually I guess I’ll stick to the recommended 15mm front and 25mm rear so the 275 squared tire size looks proper.

Right - This is just the nature of most other High-Performance parts (or any product for that matter):
  • Brand A costs $x
  • Brand B costs much less, at $y
It doesn't necessarily mean Brand B is inferior. You just have to do your homework and make the choice that's best for you based on your priorities and well... your wallet. ;)

Incidentally, I recently discovered the ridiculously wide range in pricing for Lab-Grown Diamonds. I found that you can pay anywhere between $1500 and $10,000 for a stone with the same specs - depending on where you purchase it. I'm not implying that is necessarily the same situation with our spacers; just food for thought...

Yeah that was me. The Bonoss come fitted as they should with lug bolts to the hub, then your stock bolts into the spacer. They have some channels to air cool...not sure if that is gimmick or not. But they are known, and used for super cars like mclaren, masserati etc., get great reviews.

That aside, wheel spacers are not something I would cheap out on. While the YHT may be fine, unknown brand, and not a risk I would take. There have been spacer failures and the thought of that happening on a highway somewhere, well, I will pass.

If I was doing this for summer set up, which I don't need because my aftermarkets are custom offset, I would spend the extra $$ simply for peace of mind. In fact, if Eibach or H&R made a spacer for our vehicles with bolts instead of studs and nuts, I would go there first.

That said, the price you mentioned seems high compared to what Bonoss quoted me direct, which if I recall, was USD$400 all in for 4 spacers, including the bolts. Links should be in my post, with prices. Those are the links that Bonoss gave me to fit our GVs

I will probably create a new thread or post these photos to an existing related thread, but I wanted to post them here first as promised.

These photos include the following new mods:
  • Full Premium Vinyl Wrap: 3M 2080 Satin Flip Ghost Pearl (SP280)
  • Trim Vinyl Wrap: Door Handles + Side Mirrors + Roof Antenna + Lower Door Strip with 3M 2080 Carbon Fiber Black (CFS12)
  • Ceramic Pro Vinyl Protection: (2) Base Layers + (1) Top Coat
  • Full Chrome Delete
  • Dark Chrome Badges: (Hood + Lift Gate)
  • Adro Carbon Fiber Kit: Front Lip + Roof Spoiler + Rear Diffuser
