  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Took my GV60 in to Genesis of Cherry Hill to complete two recalls, and the experience was shockingly fantastic!!

I was floored by the service lobby being an amazing third space, with complimentary automatic coffee machines, snacks, conference rooms, and designs based off of Genesis House in NYC. Even the friggin bathrooms had a one-way window to a zen garden outside.

The service staff was warm, welcoming, specific, and no-bullshit. They did complementary rotation, and swapped out my wiper blades free of charge.

I am very happy to see Genesis making progress on its brand experience in the US. It will keep me coming back to the brand for sure.

Now if only I can find a coffee shop that offers the same feel...

That's b/c it's owned by Peter Lanzavecchia, the head of Genesis’ retail advisory board.

Most owners surveyed annually by J D Power are subjected to the embarrassingly poor Hyundai dealer experience and are envious of your good fortune! :giggle:

Ridiculously unnecessary and will only contribute to excessive price increases to these vehicles. Thanks to these mostly empty, cookie-cutter, multi-million dollar showrooms and lounges the brand is sure to exit the "budget-friendly luxury market" entirely. This looks just like the last 4 I have been in.

Price has been creeping up. I always thought my dealer had a decent showroom and amenities. In the last year though, it has been undergoing renovation. Meantime, they used portable units, one for sales, one for service waiting. It just reopened about a week ago but no reason to go check it out yet.

My 2018 G80 Ultimate, AWD stickered at $55,555. Same thing now is $64.350 and you can go to $75k with the Sport Prestige. .

My local dealership just opened up their separate Genesis facility (was previously at the Hyundai dealership). Decor and amenities are very similar.

This is not out of line with other luxury dealerships. For a brand like Genesis that is still trying to establish itself in the luxury segment, I think 'setting the scene' is especially important.

The GV60 goes for $80K here in Canada. How much would the upscale coffee and decor add to the cost of each vehicle vs. something plain vanilla? 0.1%? Unnoticeable. Also, the dealership would bear these costs, not the manufacturer (who sets the selling price in Canada). There was no increase in selling prices when my "ridiculously unnecessary" dealership location opened its doors.

It's absolutely necessary if they want to compete with other luxury brands. I've driven Acura, Infiniti, and Lexus. My experience at the Hyundai dealership wasn't even close to my previous experiences. I'll be going out of my way to the new Genesis of Mentor, Ohio (45 minutes from me) for service in their new, standalone Genesis dealership instead of going to the Hyundai dealership 15 minutes from my house (where I leased mine). I went to visit them after they built it and the Sales Manager gave me an hour of his time showing me around while knowing I didn't even lease mine from them. They treated me like royalty. In fact, I have friends who love my GV70 but will never get one because they refuse to go to a Hyundai dealership. A lil snobby, yes. But it's their money and they want the full luxury experience.

That looks fantastic!!!! Hope our dealership here in Vegas will be similar.

I get that it's difficult for some people to understand why some might value intangibles like luxury, when they themselves either don't recognize or value it, or have a different idea of what luxury means. Nothing wrong with either opinion - some people don't care for what they perceive as frills and don't want to pay for them, while others enjoy and want them. To each his own. I'm pretty sure however that any manufacturer that wants to compete in the so-called luxury auto segment needs the sort of things you're showing in that dealership.

At the horse race track, it was always worth it to me to pay the extra charge for the reserved seating. Nicer clientele and less crowded. Intangible luxury.

There has been an evolution. The original Hyundai model called Genesis was a "value" luxury model. Made and sold by Hyundai dealers, expectations were low.

At some point, management thought "hey, we have a real luxury winner" Then Genesis broke off as a separate brand and while the prices have been increasing, dealer care was lagging and the original plan to open stand alone dealers was in the courts. Now they are finally able to do it but it was a struggle. Will still take a long time.

I've been fortunate, three dealers in three states over ten years have all been good. Others, not some much. I don't know how much control Genesis have over the intangibles but that is part of the problem. Seems some don't want to invest in upgrades in customer care.

Profit margins based on volume, may be the reason. Lot more Sonatas than G80s being sold. Not that they compare.

I was a BMW owner prior to my GV60P. I did not change because the genesis was "budget friendly"; I chose because Genesis offered me a better choice for my needs. If the GV60P were made by BMW, I would probably still be driving a BMW. I agree with the others here; it is not excessive and is in fact necessary.

If one wants a budget friendly "luxury" car, look to Infinity or Acura.

Certainly part of the problem. Visualize a customer service waiting area. There are eight seats in it. Six of them are metal folding chairs, but two of them are luxurious recliners and the sign says "Genesis Owners Only"

Until we get enough stand alone dealers, there will be compromise. I'm fortunate that my dealer has a nice facility, but evidently. some do not.

Yes and no. Although I get your point, the point most of us are making is that we paid more and, quite frankly, were promised more. Both sides of the equation must be equal. The problem occurs when they're not equal.

Sure, but just for laughs, toss in a pandemic. That caused a problem with shortages of cars for sale, cars for loaners, drivers for them. They seem to be recovering, but that takes time too.

Then they should stop making promises they can't keep.

Cherry Hill is where my GV80 will be this Friday.
