  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys

just wondering if anyone has put tires in the backseat and trunk? will it fit? I just bought winter tires no rims same size 235/50/18 and was wondering if it will fit or will i need to bungee the trunk

I did. Two tires in the back seat, two tires in the trunk. Didn't have any problem.

And you can fit all four tiers in the back seat if you put them vertically.

What winter tires did you buy?

I am going to put Bridgestone Blizzak WS-80 on my Genny in a two-three weeks for the last (4th) winter season.

Bought some old stock Contintenal Winter Contact tires. They had some on clearance just need to pick them up and install them. Thanks for letting me know, i was worried since the seats don't fold.

How was the Blizzaks? I had some Michelin Xice on my impala and that was pretty decent.

Blizzaks are good.

Also, I put four 40-pound bags of salt in the trunk (water softener salt} for the weight on rear tires. With winter tires and 160 pounds of weight in the trunk Genny drives like a tank in the snow.

Then in April, when I switch to summer tires, those four bags of salt go into water softener.

You mentioned installing the Blizzak tires for the last (4th) winter season...will you be relocating (retiring) somewhere warmer? I'll be in Battle Creek during March and early April of 2025 and am wondering what type of weather I will need to worry about.

What I meant was that I will be buying new winter tires for the next four winter season. Also, I have an extra car - 2014 Ford Focus that has second set of wheels with winter tires so I will be driving Focus now during snow storms because my Genny doesn't have collision coverage.

I am already retired in March of 2022 so this is already out of the way. :)
Relocating to warmer climate - I wish I could because old bones and joints need warmth and sunshine. :)
May be in 2026 after daughter is done with high school, and if I can convince my wife to move. :)

Weather in March and early April in Battle Creek area (and my Metro Detroit area for that matter) can be worm, can be cold. We can have snow storm, or even ice storm sometime in April. Kinda unpredictable. So, winter tires or all-season tires are recommended because it is not good to drive on summer tires below 40 degrees F and in snow. I usually put summer tires on my Genny at the end of April.

Understood. Thanks for the info. My 2014 Genesis is salvaged, slight front end issue (my fault) in 44 years of driving in 2023 and then a front-end deer strike (the deer's fault) so the insurance company offered to trash the car and give me "X" or I can keep it and they gave me the car and "Y". I kept the car and had it repaired for the "Y" cost. Currently at 225K+ miles and runs and drives perfectly. Still on the original brakes which I have new PowerStop pads and rotors to be installed when I have time and schedule permits along with two new rear tires, they seem to wear faster than the fronts. New OEM transmission pan/filter here with new hardware and new OEM TPMS wheel/tire sensors to be installed at the dealer when I have my next trip and don't need the car. Will be having the frame/carriage TSB accomplished for corrosion.
