Anything comparable to a 2010 sedan?

I've had this 2010 3.8 sedan since 5K miles. It was a lemon law car. The old lady couldn't ever get it to start, so they finally took it back. Couldn't find anyting wrong, so we bought it in '10 and put over 250K on it with only one part failing. It's been a beautiful, troublefree, wonderful car. Now, it's time to move to something newer. I'd love another just like this, but they don't make a Genesis like this. Seems the sedans are running a small, boosted engine, which in my book shortens the fuse on the engine. Plus, they're crazy on the prices. I just love and can't get over how well designed this car was, and how dependable it has been. But, I haven't kept up with Hyundai, and don't know if they still make the same dependable cars. What's the opinions in the peanut gallery??

Nothing like it in any brand today. EPA regulations killed most of the smooth big block engines. Technology that most customers demand today helped jack the prices.
Maybe you can find a low miles car coming off lease at a decent price.

I don't think you will find the car you want. There are a few companies still selling unboosted cars but they either tend to be very expensive or entry level (underpowered IMO) cars. The alternative to a turbocharger (or supercharger) would be a hybrid where the electric motor gives the driver a power boost. But...these cars are likely more trouble prone (because they have two motive powers: electric and gasoline) and more expensive. Or, of course, a true EV, but because of the high cost of batteries, these tend to be expensive as well.

If you stay with the Hyundai family of cars (Genesis, Kia, Hyundai) you do still get the ten year power train warranty and the five year complete warranty (assuming you are the original owner).

Also, be aware that there are fewer and fewer sedans being sold in the US these days. Several car makers are transitioning to no sedans but lots of SUVs/crossovers. At least, for now, the Hyundai family is still making sedans (as are Toyota and Honda).

To echo numerous commenters, good luck finding a comparable vehicle. I bought my 2014 Genesis 3.8 with 38 miles on it and I am currently at 228,815 miles. Crazy prices and the advanced "Tech" in most new vehicles aren't something that interest me. I will drive mine until it won't go any more...
The huge trunk and great ride quality and I am getting 30+mpg when I keep it around 75mph on the highway on long trips. I average 27-28mpg during city and highway combined driving.
 
Closest thing is a Lexus ES300. My old man picked up a new '24 ES300h hybrid for $58k.

Just as quick off the line as a v8 and gets 42mpg.

Actually, the ES was a rebadged and slightly reconfigured Toyota Avalon so its size was that of an Avalon. One problem with luxury companies like Lexus, Cadillac, Lincoln, Acura, etc. is that they are essentially gussying up the mainstream product.

So far Genesis is managing to avoid that problem. For example, the GV70 is very different from a Hyundai Tucson but the temptation is always there to reach into the mainstream vehicle parts bin for the luxury vehicle. Companies like BMW, Mercedes, Lucid, etc. don't have this issue as they don't have the entry level mainstream product in their inventory to produce a parts bin.
 
I totally understand and agree with you wanting to find another Genesis in the older body style. I let my 2011 4.6 go and regretted it immediately. After searching AutoTrader for several weeks I found the exact 2013 Genesis R-Spec that I wanted…they are out there and I’ll take this one to the grave with me lol.

My 2014 Genesis sedan gets her fourth set of the new Continental Pure Contact radials on Monday the 20th with her first set of replacement brakes at almost 230K miles. Best automobile I have ever owned next to her predecessor, a 2006 V6 Sonata that had 255K miles when I traded it for my current new Genesis. Kudos for finding your replacement vehicle, they ae tough to come by because most people are keeping them.

I’ve got the materials to repaint the entire front. My 4.6 was a great car. The only issues I had was with the adaptive cruise control and the alternator. The dealer wanted $3500 (it’s made in Germany) for a new one so I found a used one for $650.00 with a one year warranty from a wrecking yard in CA. and installed it myself within 30 mins lol. When I traded the car 3 yrs later it was still working…The alternator quit at 130k and it cost me almost $950.00 to get an OEM alternator installed by a private shop. I agree with you, these Genesis are the best cars I’ve owned and I have nothing but praise for them.

My Genesis is 100% original, purchased with 38 miles I believe? Everything original, only issue is the TPMS which I finally purchased four brand new OEM units to be installed at the dealership when it goes in for install and alignment with the TPMS computer. New transmission filter/pan replacement (already purchased), drain and fill along with the rear differential drain and fill service. Will also the TSB for corrosion of the frame addressed.

I wasn’t aware of the TSB for frame corrosion? I’m just getting back into the Genesis world and I obviously need to catch up. You definitely maintain your car and I intend to do the same. Some parts are getting hard to find and I may buy 4 tpms sensors and hold onto them for when the time comes. I heard recently the local Hyundai dealer no longer works on Genesis and referred a customer to a Genesis dealer for repairs and service. I haven’t confirmed that for myself but it didn’t make me feel good…

Interesting. The BH sedans are still Hyundai's so they should work on them. Maybe they aren't working on the newer Genesis models. Def a question that I will ask. I haven't been back to the dealership where I purchased my in several years, but I go by there every time I arrive near work and noticed they removed the Genesis logo (newer models) and there are no new or used models in the lots.
The Hyundai Campaign Number 991 is for model corrosion and have heard it takes quite almost a day.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with Hyundai products. My daughter drove a 15 Veloster until a deer strike totalled it. Bought it new and never required anything more than normal maintenance. She’s driving a 23 Palisade now and absolutely loves it. When I get to drive it I’m amazed at the quality of it and know that she’ll enjoy it for years to come.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with Hyundai products. My daughter drove a 15 Veloster until a deer strike totalled it. Bought it new and never required anything more than normal maintenance. She’s driving a 23 Palisade now and absolutely loves it. When I get to drive it I’m amazed at the quality of it and know that she’ll enjoy it for years to come.
I'm sixty years old so pay my local shop to do things like tires, brakes (first time being replaced). I will go back to the dealer for rear diff service, transmission pan/filter replacement and the TPMS sensors for them to do as they TPMS module requires a "re-flash" supposedly. I take care of the cabin filter and the intake filter. Everything else is original.
February 2023, I had a slight accident, so the bumper and some other stuff was replaced. My insurance covered it. March 2024, I hit a deer so the insurance company "totaled" the car, offered me the car and a check if I wanted to keep it but it would have a salvage title. I took both and had the car front redone again and it was like brand-new. November 2024 a racoon ran out in front of me so there are some minor cracks and the lower edge of the bumper cover missing. I will eventually buy another bumper cover, have it painted and installed.
Our family has owned numerous Hyundai vehicles and have always been pleased.
 
I’m 65 and pretty do the same thing you do regarding maintenance. A friend owns a foreign car repair business and has always done good work so I defer to him when something needs repaired. My area is inundated with deer so I’m pretty paranoid about hitting a deer lol. We should have kept the Veloster but the insurance company insisted that it was totalled and never offered me the opportunity to keep it and I wasn’t smart enough to try and negotiate it. I may reach out to you in the future with questions because you obviously know how to make one survive long term. My Genesis currently has 54k in it, any recommendations on what preventive maintenance ie; trans, rear differential etc I need to keep in mind and when regarding mileage? Mine has always pulled a little to the right and I’ve read that this appears to be common but I’m not sure I believe that since my 11 4.6 didn’t do it..

Preventative maintenance to be done depends on how long you've had and who owned it before you and how well they took care of it. My vehicle has serviced with semi-synthetic engine oil since new, I switched it from the "House" brand to Castrol "High Mileage" semi-synthetic at about 175K miles. I always use the Wix oil filters and services are done every 3-4K miles. First transmission drain/service was at 89K +/- 5K miles and rear diff drain/service was at 92K +/- 3K miles.
What I have learned about the Hyundai cars is that "if it isn't broken, don't fix it". Many will have different thoughts on my theory, but it has worked for me.
The Genesis loaded while my wife and travel in the summer with the A/C working gets 30-33 MPG on the highway if I keep it under 80MPH. I did have driver's side "blend door actuator" fail a few years ago. Purchased a couple of different units and replaced it myself after a few months of freezing. I maintain a three-engine corporate jet and have been in aviation maintenance for forty-two years so being upside down and contorted is nothing new while working.

These cars were ahead of their time in my opinion and I want to enjoy it as long as possible. Wife and I took it to FL and on the interstate with cruise set at 78, I was getting 28.9 lol, crazy to me when there’s 429 hp under the hood. Hoping the 8 speed trans is as good as the 6 speed was on my 4.6. Time will tell I guess..

Thank you for your service. Uncle Sam started me in helicopter maintenance, and I got my FAA licenses to work on everything. We've done numerous trips to Florida; about 1000 miles each way and she performed flawlessly.
