  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello GV60 Peeps,

Considering purchasing a set of 19 inch "winter" wheels and tires to swap out with the 21's which I would use in the warmer months. Curious if anyone has done this, what range improvement they have seen, and if anyone has recommendations on tires/wheels?

There are a couple threads here about winter wheel and tire combos. Have a look at those.
I have an 18" set. Tough to say what mileage gains there are to be had as any weight savings are more than offset by running the heat. There was data provided during the initial GV60 launch that said that going from 20" to 19" wheels (on an otherwise similar car) would add 20km of range. Am I going 60 km/charge farther on my 18" wheels vs. 21s? Definitely not. YMMV.

This might give you some insight on range increases.

GV60 Standard AWD 19" 264 miles, $55,850
GV60 Advanced AWD 20" 248 miles, $60,900
GV60 Performance AWD 21" 235 miles, $69,900

1" downsize from Advanced to Standard is 16 miles, so maybe 18" rims will give 280 miles on all season tires. Performance to Advanced is only 13 miles, but it has a bigger 2nd motor.

I don't know if winter increases will translate.

Which 18" wheels did you buy? I am considering going to 18s full time.

I don't recall the specifics. I posted them on another thread - I think it was one of the winter wheel threads. They were just some generic wheels that were cheap at my local auto parts shop.

One thing I will mention is that having another 3" of tire makes the car look a little like a dune buggy.

Does anyone know the part number of the OEM 19" wheels? Also, if you go from 21" to 19" does that mess up your speedometer in anyway?

If anyone in the mid-Atlantic region is interested in a set of 18" winter wheels, I would be interested in selling a set that was used on our G70 that should fit the GV60. They are set up with winter tires and TPMS that worked with the G70.

2 km/hr @ 60...negligible..based on those street radar signals in my city..

Ok, looks like the part numbers for the wheels are

21 - 52910-CU400
20 - 52910-CU300
19 - 52910-CU100

Also, the tire diameter of the OEM 21s is 91.2 and the OEM 19s is 91.6.. So there will be a tiny change in the speedometer. Is there a way to program it to correct?

I believe I saw the winter wheels in the accessory catalogue for GV60 on the Germany section of the Genesis website a while ago.
They were the 19 inch rims that come standard with the RWD "Premium" version, but with friction winter tyres (please note: NOT all-season tyres) on.

Just a heads up since we own a G70 and a GV60, and I have a set of 18" winters for the G70: they aren't the right size tires, though wheels fit the 5x114.3 pattern and support the GV60's weight. I could use the wheels but need different tires lest the speedometer be off by a good amount, and the tires I have for the G70 don't have the right load rating for the GV60.

Edit: just adding, my winters for my G70 are 225/45R18 (basically same diameter as stock) vs GV60P's 255/40R21 which would yield speedometer readings of 10%+ over actual speed through 100mph

There may be software somewhere to adjust the speedo, but don’t bother.

At 91.6 vs. 91.2, you’ve got a variation of less than 1/2 of 1%. Who cares if the speedo is off by 0.5 km/h?

The speedometer is already off by about 2 mph. So the change could actually improve the accuracy or slightly decrease it. Either way...as you say, it doesn't matter or as they say in the legal trade: "de minimis non curat lex". And, before someone asks, the odometer is accurate for the OEM tires, the intentional error is only in the speedometer.

Agree. In fact, the speedometer for the stock tires is already intentionally off by about 2 mph. So this tiny change could actually slightly improve or slightly increase the stock accuracy by an insignificant amount. And, before anyone asks, the intentional error on the speedometer does not transfer to the odometer which should be spot on for the OEM tires.

Yes, they would not work due to load so I sold them to another G70 owner.

Resurrecting this thread - we're almost a year later and my 2023 21" OEM tires (GV60 Performance) have 16K miles on them. I have a few road trips planned for crossing the rockies in the next few months, so I'm considering the following:
- Same size -- Getting a set of Winter tires to use until ~March and then getting a set of All Season to use March-November
- Smaller Winter tires -- folks seemed to recommend going down to 19" wheels and same approach as above
- Same size - just get some good recommended All Season tires that folks report to perform well in snow

I could optionally get some snow socks for mountain passes on my road trips.

How did folks fare last Winter? I'm normally in the PNW so I haven't ever driven this vehicle in snow, although I'm aware of the snow mode so at least I read things on the internet. :D

Thanks!

My two cents:
  • The decision on whether to go with a set of winters is dependent on your environment and driving conditions. I started using them 15 or so years ago and will never do without them again. It sounds like snow isn't a real concern for you, so they may not be justified.
  • If getting a set of winters, definitely go with a smaller wheel size. Rims are cheaper, tires cheaper, ride quality is better and range longer.
  • I went with a set of 18" wheels. They are as small as you can go and still clear. I will admit that the huge sidewall doesn't look great - the car looks like a dune buggy with the winters on. They also feel a little spongy at times when cornering. 19s may be a better choice for performance and appearance.

I have a set of 19" Genesis OEM wheels in pristine condition if anyone is interested.
