  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anybody know what this is  If you remove the motor cover this is visible. I have no idea what it is or what it’s propose is. Looks like a hot air box to draw hot air off engine during periods before engine comes up to temp.

I also changed the filter in the air box and if you put your fingers into the air intake over the radiator there feels like there is some kind of filter in an opening over the fan. Is this something that needs periodic attention

For the first 100,000 miles if you are the original owner I would not change anything to do with the engine, transmission, or rear dif. I would want to make sure that the power train warranty would not be voided. As far as filters go, follow the recommended maintenance in the owner's manual and service booklets.

This is nonsense. It is illegal (in USA) to deny a warranty claim just because scheduled maintenance is performed by a third party or owner, so long as it is documented.

That is new for 2012, so don't know. Check out www.hmaservice.com if you really want to know. They have pics for their shop manual, so should be there.

Look at the radiator pics in the shop manual for info about any other filters, etc.

Read more closely.
My comment said nothing about dealer doing any maintenance. My point was not to modify anything to do with drive train while under warranty.

My mistake. Unfortunately, a lot of other people on this forum seem to disagree with your advice.
