If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm considering getting an extended warranty for my 2010 3.8 with 23K miles. I have received quotes for the 10 yr/100K mile $100 deductible Platinum warranty from Hyundai from 5 area dealers and all range between $2890 and $2935. I have seen much lower prices quoted in this forum - is this difference because the others were quoted as part of a new car sale, or have prices just gone up, or am I not asking the right dealers??

They are making you for a sucker. Based on what I have seen on this forum, it should cost half of what you are being quoted.

I would contact a dealer that sells them online. I don't know if this one sells warranties online (they sell other parts online), but you can call them:

New Hyundai Parts

Phone: (843) 208-1240

This is really Hilton Head Hyundai in SC.

Jim ellis hyundai has them for ~1200. That is what I got my platinum extended warranty for.

Mine was for 6yr/100k from date of purchase and included interior electronics.

Thanks for the tip - I contacted them and they are quoting $1295 for HMA 10 yr/100K Platinum warrantly with $100 deductible. I don't know how these other guys get by with charging 3 times that much...

I sent my info to Jim Ellis Hyundai and they looked up the VIN in the HMA database and tell me that the max Platinum warranty they can issue on 2010 is a 6 yr/75K mile. Since I only drive about 10,000 miles a year a 6 yr/75K mile warranty sounds ok, so I'm going to purchase.

Definitely recommended. Hyundai has some work to do on the electrical gremlins on this car.

The Finance Guy from my Dealer, Freeman Hyundai, started by quoting a price of $2800, reduced to $2300, with a coupon that the Salesman had given me, for a 10yr/100K bumper to bumper warranty. Also there was a Titanium policy that covered tire road hazard, wheels, glass, and door dings for 5yr/60K for $600, reduced to $295, if I took the 100K warranty. We haggled for a while and the price for the 100K was lowered to $1400. The dealership was starting to close for the evening so I told him to do the paperwork without the warranty and I would pick up the car the next day.
When I arrived the next day, he told me it would be no problem to add it in and redo the paperwork. I told him not for $1400 and he replied that he would do a HMPP policy, one from Hyundai, $0 deductible if the work was done at his dealership and a $50 deductible, if the repairs at another Hyundai dealership. The price was $1156. I accepted both the 10YR/100K HMPP warranty and the Titanium policy for $295.
I only have 30,000 on the car but have used the Titanium twice, once for a Windshield that cracked, apparently without cause (no stone marks) and a nail in one of the tires.
I think it is the Finance department, not the Salesman, that sets the price on the warranties and they are definitely negotiable.

OK - today I (OP) received the warranty contract from Jim Ellis Hyundai in Atlanta. I read through the covered items and excluded items 3 times and can find no mention of the navigation system. OEM radio is listed, but nothing about nav. I have asked for clarification, and if they tell me nav is covered I will insist that it be added to the contract, otherwise I think I'll pass.

Look for anything that can be covered with a surcharge. In my warranty, it was excluded UNLESS a surcharge was paid. I paid the surcharge of $150 to have that all covered. Was a great investment.

Can these warranties be bought out of state.

I live in Michigan, the warranties around my place are in low 3K for a 10/100. Car has just 2 months (3 years/36 months) left on the 'electrical' factory warranty (told by dealer)

Yes, in theory you can purchase them from any Hyundai dealer (and some dealers sell them online); however, there may be a slight difference in the deductible if you take it a dealer other than you purchased the warranty from. That doesn't guarantee that any dealer will sell it to you.

Most dealers will sell it to you from anywhere. Beware of dealers in the state of Washington...they charge a 9.5% tax on theirs

Jim Ellis doesnt charge tax on his

How about coverage for Bluetooth and radar cruise control? Parking sensors?

Here is what i got for my 2009 4.6 tech package with 17,000 miles on it.

10/100000…….$ 2142
8/85000……….$ 1484
6/85000………$ 1350

all these are with 0$ deductible.

I thought I got my 100k platinum wrap a reasonable price for $1400 before I heard that a few of you have been getting them for close to $1000. The irony is that I work for an automotive dealership

I signed up with Jim Ellis for 1295$ for 6 year 85K miles with 0$ deductible.

I was told that the tires, glass, keys are not covered as part of the plan, they do not have any surcharge or anything that would include these and the rest of the others.

Thanks
