  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have new wheels and they are very close to the caliper so, I'm going to get a 5 mm spacer. Does anyone know if they make lug nuts with the extra thread for the G70? I have used these in the past but not sure about the G70.

Yes, they make them. You need tuner style or extended thread lug nuts in M12x1.5. Just measure your stock stud length, add the 5mm spacer, and buy nuts with enough thread engagement to match the original. Don't use open-ended nuts if your studs are longer.

How close to the caliper is it? Realistically, you don't need much more than 2-3mm of clearance. If tire/wheel is too close to your struts or shocks, then I'd worry more.

In any case, with up to 5mm spacers, you should still have enough thread engagement to be safe for regular street driving, but not all wheels are made to the same hub thickness specs. Since these are M12x1.5 threads, you need minimum of 8 full turns of thread engagement. Don't trust anybody's word on this (including mine). Always check them on your own wheels to make sure.

That said, having more than minimum thread engagement is never a bad idea. There are extended nuts you can buy. These are probably what you are looking for: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W6RVW17 A word of caution though... these nuts should fit your wheel studs, but the extended portion might not fit into the holes on your wheel. Best to verify with vendor (if you can) before you order them.

Lastly, you might know this already, but make sure to get hub-centric spacer rings that have the raised lip to keep your new wheel hub-centric.

Yeah, its very close, maybe 2 mm.. I have a 3mm spacer coming that has the hubcentric built into it. Also, these are the lug nuts I ordered and the spacers.

These are the wheels, 8.5 front and 9.5 rear. Black with a machined face and chrome lip.
