  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2024 Genesis GV80 prestige 3.5T AWD vehicle is no longer operating in the “coasting” mode, disconnecting the transmission while going down hill and while in the Economy mode. This “coasting” mode has worked well for the first year but it no longer works. How do I fix this? Thank you!

Do you still have auto start/stop? If not, then your battery is probably too low to allow the function. Otherwise, there is something else in the system that you are not meeting.

Sal - thanks for your informative reply.
My auto stop start is working and I’m doing plenty of highway driveway to charge the battery - however I cannot recall how to access battery charge level via the Genesis app?
It’s strange that I can no longer get my car to “coast” (and indicate “coast” on the instantaneous mileage indicator) on the same downhill road that always worked when I would lightly hit the brake to turn off cruise control upon cresting the top of a hill.

You can only get battery level from the Genesis Owners Web Site. Not the app.

Thanks for that info. My battery level is 69%.
Is that high enough for the coast mode to work?

I think it has to be above 50%.

Your battery level should be >70% for coasting to work. These batteries in Genesis sucks

A possibility.. My '21 coasting feature has not worked each of the past winters, and function returned each spring/summer when temps go above 50-60 or so. Car seems to need to feel all warm and fuzzy.

Thx. I am in SWFL where it’s always warm, or hot. I’m really missing my COASTING mode. Wish I could get it to work again.

A simple solution is to plug in a battery maintainer when you're not planning on driving for more than a few days. The pigtails can be left attached to the positive terminal on the fuse block and the negative post on the passenger side of the engine bay. If you run them back to the base of the windshield near the passenger side wiper, it's easy to connect the cables to the maintainer without even opening the hood. Your battery will reach and maintain a good level of charge enabling both stop/start and coasting in the right conditions. It will likely mean a longer service life for the battery too.

Vehicle battery needs to have 12.4 V in order to coast must be charged or put in sport mode to charge
