hardness or thickness

I have seen only one post that stated that the paint on the Genny was "hard" I am curious if this is in fact correct or no? I have a 2010 that is black and I am looking to get the cobb webs and swirls out of her but do not want to damage the finish in my zeal to correct it. Any info would be...
