I have the black interior with ash(?) open pore wood trim. What should I treat this with in cleaning it. Is there an "agent" that will give the wood a bit of a shine - without wrecking the wood (I prefer gloss wood in a car) thanks

I just finished cleaning the soot off of my rear bumper with a cleaner wax. I would like to clean the tail pipes from the soot also. What is the best stuff to use to do this? The cleaner wax had little or no effect.
