rusted

I detailed my car a few days ago and while cleaning under the hood, I noticed the passenger sides hood shock was rusting. There is about a 1.5 long sleeve at the point where the shock goes into the main body that separated and underneath it, it was all rusted. Will snap pic when I get a chance...
