silencer

hey guys, was replacing my high beams today for the first time, and had to move the air intake box, and noticed that the intake had some sort of secondary filter attached to the top of the box. Im not sure about hyundai's, but in my previous e60 bmw, they had the samething however it was called...

I MacGyver'ed my own solution to this. There used to be a roughly 13" air silencer in front of the throttle body. I capped off the inlet with a vinyl trailer ball hitch cover, made rigid with a PVC coupler inside it (necessary, because the flange coming off the main intake is flimsy rubber)...

Today I pulled the air filter and replaced it with a K&N panel filter. While I was there I see the 4.6L has a air silencer in the form of a hinged door which opens under intake vacuum. Seems like a potential problem if the door ever got stuck you would be way down on power. One screw holds the...
