Car: 2016 G-DH 3.8 V6 @55K miles.
This last February got an Engine Oil Light "ON" indicator while standing at idle, after the engine was warmed up. It would go away as soon as I gave a little gas or accelerating, then came back on at idle. The oil level checked slightly low (unusual) and refilled it. But, no weird noises from the engine and no oil smell. The car seemed like it ran fine. Took car in to dealership 3 weeks later in March, to have it checked. Turned out to be a bad oil pressure switch/sensor and the connecting harness was full of oil. Both were replaced under warranty and light is now "OFF".
Was told by mechanic that Hyundai requires them to first install an OEM oil filter, if an aftermarket one is used, to check for this issue. If the OEM oil filter does not solve the problem, then they proceed to take apart all necessary parts (upper & lower intake, fuel rail, etc) to get to the oil switch that is located underneath, which is a semi-big job.
The mechanic also gave me 2 bottles of this Valvoline (VPS) super-concentrated Fuel injector cleaner that only professional shops use, which is part of a 2-part process they use to clean the intake and injectors on customers cars. I used both bottles back-to-back in 2 separate 3/4 full tanks of gas. This stuff really works!..but you'll need to do a few WOT runs, while it's in the tank. Also noticed 1-2 mpg better gas mileage with my usual driving.
