  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What do you think the cause is of the drop? What about the changes in the economy? What made 2021 and 2024 special?
Your numbers don't seem to have much meaning with no explanation.

In a previous post, many members made suggestions to Genesis that reflected on the many changes since 2020-2022 that just raised the asking price but did little to improve the product-just make it more costly to repair. Rather than go over what has been adequately expressed, I refer you to that recent post.

I am guessing it is the $100K price of the cars starting in 2023.

There are a few sedans out that at well over $100K that sell at 3X-4X the rate of the G90
So the market is there...

I posted several years ago, in this forum, that I didn't think the G90 would outsell the Hyundai Equus. That has held true

I personally dont think you can sell a luxury vehicle , in volumes, in the United States without a true consistent luxury dealer experience
Genesis still doesnt have it after all these years.

Though to be fair..US buyers dont seem to be selecting Lexus LS500 either(through July 2025 there were 781 sold)
Personally, I dont see how either vehicle can be justified for another generation, unless there is significant volume outside the United States that makes the economies of scale make sense.

I think part of it is fewer and fewer people are buying sedans at all, especially large sedans. I was just at a park and a whole row of a dozen pickleballing womens' cars was entirely midsize luxury crossover SUVs, Genesis and Lexus included. Looked so cookie-cutter and boring.

Where I live, the metro area is only about 500k, but that's probably typical of much of the US. I've never seen any G90 here, I believe I own the only one in my area. I've only seen the current BMW 7-series twice, and I think it was the same car both times. Current S-Class (V223) only once. Current Lexus LS once, several years ago. Current Audi A8L once, over a year ago. I see Genesis SUVs every day and the nearest dealer is 4-hours away.

GM has axed the CT6, Lincoln/Ford has axed all sedans. GM's purged coupes and sedans from Chevrolet and Buick. Acura recently killed off their last sedan. Americans aren't really buying much that isn't a crossover or SUV.

Sadly, practically no one wants a full sized luxury sedan anymore. The sales numbers are a direct reflection of that. A V-8 engine will soon be a relic. Even though these long wheel based sedans offer the best ride quality, most people want an SUV or crossover. That's the strange world we live in.
MBZ will continue to make the S500, their flagship sedan, but consider all of the other models they produce. I think Lexus is in the same situation with the LS500.

Mercedes still seems to be doing relatively well with the S550 V8 sedan...I think they have sold over 8000 of them TYD
They still have some V8 SUV's as well

Perhaps if they are gone buyers cant choose them anymore..but today there clearly seems to be a market for them
