09 4.6 DIS Controller not scrolling

The DIS controller (whizzing scroll wheel) on my 2009 4.6 is not working correctly. I can push in to select, push up, down, left and right to move just fine, but when I turn the controller left or right there is no movement on the screen. The controller will turn left and right, but won't do anything on screen. It doesn't matter if I am in the radio, XM, CD, NAV of phone, turning the controller does nothing.

Has anyone else run into this problem? On Friday it worked, on Saturday it did not.

Any thoughts would be helpful! I'm trying to avoid the typical "lets replace it" from the dealership if I don't have to. Perhaps a wire came loose? If thats even possible.

If the car has less than 36000 miles and is less than three years since purchase then get dealer to repair it under warranty.

I'm over 50k now, sad to say.

dealer may cover it under the 60k mile warranty. You may ask. If no then a salvage part is the way to go.
