  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Year
2009
Genesis Model Type
1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
P0305 cylinder 5 misfire
Compression tested out 155-165 all cylinders
New coil packs and denso iridium plugs
Seems to run better still flashing cel same code
Checked for vacuum leaks
Upon running the vehicle and unplugging #5 coilpack the way the vehicle was running hardly changed
Suspecting the coilpack harness
Traced and followed grounds clean to the harness cleaned them no change
New to the Genesis world picked the car up for dirt cheap
Possible broken spring? If so wouldn't the compression on that cylinder be worst? Need a leak down test? Any insight helps

Did you research the code online based on the engine. Compression test being decent I wouldn't think it's a broken spring. Your ECM might be the culprit. There are many super smart members here so give it some time and they hopefully respond? Possibly if you purchase one of the latest OBD2 scanners that can show you real time data will help. My 2014 Genesis with 244,400 miles and my wife's 2001 Durango with 180K + miles will benefit from me purchasing one.

Yes spent quite a bit researching about it and oddly enough I can't find a lot about just the p0305 code, occasionally it will go away and idle fine, maybe suspecting wiring not sure but yes I'm ready for one of the smarties to find the post need some good knowledge about it
