If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

:)I've heard from some folks asking about how good the Genesis Sedan A/C is in high temperatures. The short answer is... its GREAT!

We just got back from a 4K drive from Florida thru the Northeast, most of which was made during a near record heat wave. The A/C handled 104 degree temps, hour after hour, with no problem at all. In fact, using the "auto" setting, the fan was just running at about 20-30% of maximum.

One caveat, when temps crept above 95 degrees, I turned off the outside air vent, and had the A/C on "recirculate" settings, which is more energy-efficient.

"Recirculate" is perfectly OK to use all the time if you wish, but you will be getting less "fresh" outside air into the vehicle, and it does remove more moisture from the air, so some folk may feel dry eyes or throats. (We didn't have any problems at all).

Enjoy your Genesis!

My A/C also is working great. Air comes out the vents sometimes as low as 42F. At one time, I would also use the Recirculate setting, however I somehow got the system to cycle the recirculate on and off with only the Auto button being on. Don't know how I did it, or even if that is normal. I know that if I hit the "Circle A" button (to the right of the recirculate button) the recirculate will cycle on and off, but I never use the Circle A button.

With the system in Auto, even the defroster will come on when there is moisture or haze on the inside of the windshield, or frost on the outside. Surprised the heck out of me when it did that. I know it is designed to do that. What I don't fully understand is how I got the recirculate to come on and off without touching the recirculate button. Sometimes, when the recirculate light is not on, and I want to double check that the recirculate is still working (without me touching the recirculate button), I just set the temperature very low, and sure enough, the recirculate button comes on.
(You understand this is with the system in Auto mode).

As for the cooled drivers seat. People on this group have complained that it does not work very well. My findings are that if the car was parked, with the seat in the sun, the seat gets very hot, and it take a long time for you the driver to feel the cooler air, however if the car was parked with the seat in the shade, the seat cools down fast. Just can't ask too much from it.

104 degrees! Why that's down right balmy compared to life in AZ! My A/C and cooled seat have no problem at all keeping me happily chilly!

Attached is a pic I took the other day coming home...114 degrees at 5PM

----and I notice that both your Auto and Recirculate are on.

With the Auto setting engaged, fan speed, mode and recirc will all be controlled automatically according to the set temperature and the ambient. I believe that once you fiddle with a particular control, that one reverts to manual. So as long as you don't touch the recycle button, it will cycle as dictated by the conditions in order to maintain your set temperature.

I think I'm having an issue with heat seeping through the SunRoof -- anyone else had a hint of a problem with this? The car cools fine but there will be a sweep of hot air that jars me and it can't be coming from anywhere but the roof.

The A/C still working great for me...just moved to KS from MD and the Genesis kept me cool even during a few days in the high 90's with 75% humidity! :(

A/C works perfectly fine in warm weather but my Lexicon is acting up. :(
Intermittent drop outs in sound... ugh..

Dan

It's embarrassing to admit, but . . . I found my problem and it wasn't the sun roof. Had some nieces in the car (almost never have kids in the car, or rear seat passengers) and they turned on the center rear vents on full heat.

Amazing how much hot air they were blowing.

The A/C, needless to say (now), is working perfectly.

BocaDave you know what makes the biggest difference in South FL when it comes to AC efficiency? Window tint. I lived in VA and moved to Tampa and the biggest change in interior temp came from tinting my windows.

FloridaBoy if you have a infrared heat gun use it to locate the hot pockets of air. You can also add a layer of tint to the sun roof to block more of the heat.

Hope I don't hijack the thread. Window Tint. Here in Mount Dora, the wife of a friend of mine just got a ticket for having the window tint too dark on their Honda Accord. Mount Dora Police are @!#$%^&*&^%@@@'s. She told the cop that the tint was already on the car when they bought it, but did not matter. They even removed the tint, but still had to pay pay pay. I asked how did the cop know it was darker than legal. She said the cop had a device he placed on the glass to see if it was legal.

When I get a car window tinted, I always make sure it is a legal tint, plus they put a sticker on the B piller stating "Llumar Film" "Complies with
SS316.2951 thru SS316.2954". Whatever that means.

A few cars ago, I bought a 2003 Mercury Marauder with a very dark tint. So dark, I had a hard time driving at night. Took it to my tint guy and had them remove the dark tint and install the legal tint. Cheaper in the long run.
I hate dark tints, because I can't see the driver, if he is looking at me at an intersection, or whatever. The Police hate them also, for the same reason.

Wow, did it violate FL state laws or was it a local jurisdictional law? If it was darker than what FL allows then that's pretty dark as FL allows some of the darkest tint of any state, something like 15% on the back windows and something l25-30% (I can't remember the exact numbers) on front side windows.

Has anyone figured out how to run the fan on their Genesis without the A/C compressor coming on? On my 4.6 even without using the "auto" or "A/C" buttons, adjusting the fan speed automatically turns on the air conditioning. When the outside temp is pleasant I'd like to just bring some cool air inside without turning on the compressor, but so far no luck. This is the case regardless of whether it is in recirculate mode or not. Thanks for any replies.

If I remember correctly, the legal tint has to pass something like 37% of light. It could be 35%. 30% is not legal. This is state not local.

Although I never just use the fan, I "think" that the way you do it is to first push the A/C button on, then set the fan, then push the A/C button off.
If that does not work, "it can't be done".

But what do I know?? :D
