  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Took my RSpec to BIR last night. Best run was 13.66 with the ESC off. My car is a 2012 RSpec with 9000 miles. Temp was 85f

Not to shabby.

Zerotosixty.com ha sit listed as 13.1

Is the 13.6 a corrected number? Or was that actual?

well done sir..

I get all giddy when stomping it with my 'new to me' 4.6. The Rspec must feel even wilder.

I have a few questions about the handling.

What tires were you running and how did they hold?
Were you heating them up before the run?
Were you using the real ESC defeat (with the fuse) or just pressing the button on the console?

Thanks

13.6 was the actual number.
Stock tires.
I tired the following runs:
1. Push the ESC button, foot on brake, punch it when you see the last yellow light. (This was the best run)
2. Leave ESC on, foot on brake, punch it same as above. This was the worst run, something like 15.2. ESC came on shortly after launch.
3. Pull fuse, hit the ESC button, reinstall fuse. Rev to 2000 then go. Something like 14.5 with this method.
4. Same as #1, ran a 13.8
Ran on non-oxy 91 oct gas.

There was a Shelby Cobra there who was running 10.3's all night on slicks.

Thanks for the details man. I was wanting to take mine to the track, but didnt want to get laughed at by all the kids in their Civics. You have confirmed that I will be the one doing the laughing.

Im in Montreal and we don't have any decent tracks within a reasonable distance from here. We have one up north in Mirabel about 90 minutes away. I have to get up there next summer. http://www.circuiticar.com/drag.html

10.3, thats damn fast... I'd probably crap myself.

Which tires? The all weather 235's or the summer onlt 245's?

I had the PO4 summer tires but am now running Contis DW's.

That Cobra was probably a Factory Five Cobra with a stroker in it. They are easy to build and set up to run 11's all day long as well as make good runs on the road coures. Hopefully one day I will be building mine. ;)

I always got my best 0-60 runs using your first method in my 3.8 too. Brake torquing (2) with or without esc always resulted in a slower time.

Strangely too was the fact that leaving it in regular Drive vs putting it into Shiftronic, yet letting it shift itself, was a few ticks faster. Shift times, even when letting it shift at the red line itself, are noticeably slower to me in Shiftronic mode. Kind of defeats the purpose of this "sporty" mode, especially when you want a lower gear pronto.

I'm not surprised that leaving it in "shiftronic" mode but not shifting would be slower. Most engines start to loose steam as you hit the redline. I'm sure the R's software knows the ideal shift point for maximum power for each gear when in kick-down mode. By leaving it in shiftronic, and not shifting, you force it to hit the red line for each gear defeating the SW (that in this case is working for you).

I didn't notice that the car shifted well before redline about halfway down the track. Not sure what gear is was in as I just left it in Drive. Seemed strange at the time.

Tires: I don't know, what ever ones came with the car, let me go check and report back.

I ran best 13.2 @107 last fall at a Florida track (sea level). Temp was about 60 degrees and the car had 6k on the odo at the time.
Turing off the ESC and leaving it in shift mode worked best for me. My car will not shift at red line regardless of the shift mode I chose.

I'm going back in the fall when it cools down a bit.

This is strange, because my car always shifts right when the needle touches the redline. But having said that, it's doubtful that I will run times (other than on the street).

Picked a time from dragtimes on your track where the temp was around 85..

Stock and Mildly Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
13.106 @ 108.471 MPH

So that's pretty close to your corrected run there
