Hi there, new fellow here. My needs have changed so I traded in my Veracruz Limited for the Genesis. The dealer finally got my 4.6L, 2010 Sedan and will be delivering it to me on Monday. :D Question, will the stock 3.8L 17" wheels fit my 4.6? Reason I ask is we need winters by law up here and it is advisable to go a size smaller for winters plus the fact that this size is almost half the price for a winter tire than in the 18. Yeah I know winter is over but I prefer to place an order for the tires early as they have a lot of problems sourcing plus this gives me several months to pick up a set of takeoffs on ebay for cheap. :grouphug:

Hey GripperDon. I remember you from the Murano forums. What happened to your Altima Hybrid?

There are quite a few threads here on this forum about wheels and tires. I do know for a fact the the Genesis 4.6L has larger calipers in the front which make finding wheels tricky. The 18" wheels from the 3.8L will not fit on the 4.6L if that helps any.

I found a set of 4.6L 18" take offs from eBay. I spent around $600+ I think for winter.

I knew it...
I love the looks of the V6 wheels and was wondering if it'll fit on the V8.
One member said it'll fit since they're the same offset, but I was still looking for a confirmation.

Did you try putting them on? How did you know it won't fit the V8?
Thanks,

Dan

I suggested they would fit, but was obviously wrong as several members have pointed out. Offset is one factor, but rim internal dimensions are also important when the brakes are so big. According to what others have posted the V6 premium 18 wheels interfere with the brakes.

Thanks for the replies, to bad. Must be a tight fit on the non V8 as the rotor is only slightly less than a half inch smaller but I guess adding the larger 4 piston calipers into the equation makes it a no go. Hmmm, wonder if the Veracruz 17 inchers will work....

Here what I have for information.

I bought a set of take offs from ebay. They were advertised "V8 Genesis OEM wheels" but after doing my own research noticed that they were from the V6 instead. So I made a phone call to the guy selling them and he insisted that they came off of a V8. I had to tell him that they didn't and to look further into this for me.

He called me back and said he went down to the Hyundai dealer to try and put one of the rims on and low and behold they didn't fit. He was thankful for my due diligence or else he would have shipped them out and I would have to have shipped them back.

So I didn't actually see them trying to fit them on a Genesis V8 but if the guy didn't lie to me then they won't fit. Basically second hand information. I waited about another week and found someone else with the V8 rims and bought them.

Hope this helps.

Darn...
I was really hoping they're interchangeable.
Then I would've definitely gotten a set.

Dan

For what it's worth I have 17inch factory rims on my V6 work perfectly. IF you go to HMSA tech web site and look under the wheels specs you will see all the OK rims for v8 and v6.

Can you provide a link to the HMSA tech web?

I have a 2012 Genesis Sedan Premium.

I recently bought a nice set of 17" OEM 2009 Genesis sedan rims from a wrecker, to be used with my winter tires.

Durprisingly we found out that the rims "would not clear the front calipers"!!! Crap.

So I ended up geting 18" alloys from the dealer.

Are the V6 and V8 brakes different? I know on my 09 V6 Premium (came with 18") I am running 17" for my winters, but we had to try 3 different rims that all said they should fit before one would clear the top of the caliper. The other ones would drag on the inside barrel of the wheel because of where the drop center is located.

^ I had the same experience as you. Found one that would clear by a few MM and went with that haha
Yeah that's what we did for my winters, 4th rim that was supposed to fit actually cleared it also by a few mm, so that's now what I'm running. Wasn't my first choice but it beat spending another $400 to move to 18" wheels for winters.

Exactly my thoughts. Love running the 17's in winter. They're really quiet ha
Yeah the car has 65000km (40000ish miles) on it now on what I believe to be the original dunlops which I will be able to just barely get one more season out of so they aren't exactly soft or quiet anymore. The new Blizzaks make it feel and sound so much nicer now sadly. My winter rims also now look nicer than my summers...

Umm so maybe if I had tried a few sets of 17" rims, I may have found a winner. I just thought that, since the rims I bought from the wrecker came off an '09 they would fit with no issue. It wasn't even close. Maybe the brakes have changed over the years then.

The part that really bugs me on this issue, is the dealers are not much help with it. I have the 18" rims I bought the dealer now [Fast Wheels not OEM], but I Have to wait for the tires to show up. It seems Michelin has not released my size yet this year. They are suppose to arrive mid Nov. I would have preferred 17" just to save some $$$.
