175 hp instead of 201 hp, why?

Why did they de-tune the 1.6T to 175 hp, and most importantly, would a JB4 bring it back to 201 hp and then some?
What I mean is if I add a JB4 to 175 hp would it go up to about 195-200 hp, or would it go straight up to 230-240 hp as if the de-tune was removed and the power added to an engine that should get 201 hp stock?

Usually it is de-tuned for better MPG to meet EPA regulations. Do you have a comparison?

The additional power would depend upon what the did to de-tune. If things like cam profiles, valve sizes, piston configurations are changed, then no, it will still have limits.

what Genesis vehicle are you referring to that has a 1.6T?

Hyundai as a company is having mass recalls on most of their earlier turbo'd motors. Mainly in the sonata 2.0t but the neighboring hyundai dealership I work next to replaces about 30 a month...

Hyundai as a company is having mass recalls on most of their earlier turbo'd motors. Mainly in the sonata 2.0t but the neighboring hyundai dealership I work next to replaces about 30 a month...
Um, it's not just the turbos, the non-turbo 2.4 has the same recall, same problems.

Veloster, forte GT... used to have the 1.6T putting out 201 hp, now almost everything with the 1.6T is 175 hp.

Same story before with the 2.0T, used to be around 270 hp, and they de-tune those down to low 200's

Did they have turbos fail, or did they do it to be able to go 100k/10y without issues, hence reducing the possibility of failures during the powertrain warranty?

I'd like burgertuning to chime in to know if adding a JB4 to a 1.6T that has 175hp will be worth the upgrade, because if it only adds 20 hp or so, I might as well stick to the 2.4 N/A engine.

I may buy a used Tucson 2017 or 2018 soon, thinking of a few things already, JB4 will be first for sure, with BT adapter.
Does the Jb4 app have a 0 to 60 timer?

I don’t think anyone here knows about Hyundai products. The JB4 might have different requirements for that engine. Why don’t you try popping into a Hyundai forum, I’m sure they have existing threads where this question has been answered

Someone from BT should know about all applications, that's why I posted in this specific section.
I'll email BT when ready to buy since they don't check here.
