  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Will hit 200k in September but runs like the day I bought her. Eats up Florida rain storms like my 7.3 - 'X' and she keeps rolling. Mobil-1 and coolant/trans flushes a must.

Upgraded brakes, wheels, tires. Blackstone UOA said was purfect at 150k.

That's certainly good news. What year? Any valve lash adjustments? If so, what mileage? What are your driving habits? Any intake or exhaust modifications?

2009 bought with 27k 5/11. Average 1200-1400 a week. Rear axle fluid leaked at 172 and was a $125 fix. Changed [plugs at 105 and coolant every 45 though the book says 30. Also flush transmission every 45 despite the recommended 30.

Mods are K&N filter for stock air box. Always used Mobil 1 0w20 here in florida with UOA every 50k. The 150k from blackstones said the engine is near mint with NO aluminum wear. Change oil every 9-10k miles.

Drive 78-82 daily on I95 and i4 here in NE Florida and average 25-26.5 per tank. Fantastic car!

I am pretty sure that the 2009 3.8 specifies auto trans fluid change at 100K miles with synthetic fluid. It is an Aisin transmission, which also supplies to RWD transmissions to Lexus and many others. Aisin was started as a joint venture between Toyota and Borg Warner, but now Toyota owns about 25% of the company due to stock dilution as a result of mergers of Aisin with other companies.

Books states every 30 after the initial 60. It has an internal filter that cannot be change without tearing into the tranny. There is a small screen that does come out though. My shop charges $60 for a drain and fill using synthetic valvoline. Not a 6ZF like the 4.6 but engineered close. Keeping the car for another 150k so fluids are cheap insurance for ;ok if it is overkill.

After I bought my car I was doing first oil change at the dealership and asked about transmission fluid change. Tech rep told me it would be 100,000 miles.

Are we just debating normal versus severe driving service intervals here? If that's the case, maybe its 60k-severe or 100k-normal.

I just looked in the 2009 Genesis owners manual, and it actually doesn't even say to ever replace the transmission fluid (just inspect every 37,500 miles). There is no difference for severe usage.

There are two different 2009 transmissions, Aisin for V6 and ZF for V8, and they each require a different kind of synthetic fluid (with slightly different specs).

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
OP, are you thinking of the engine coolant by mistake? The coolant interval is inline with the mileage of servicing that you mentioned.

Coolant and tranny fluid. However just looked and seems the tranny fluid was incorrect. It is to be inspected every 37,500; thank you all for the clarification.

Point being my 2009 3.8 sedan turned 182,000 today and these are fantastic cars. Hate to jinx myself on the tranny so may keep changing fluid...lol.

BTW, Hyundai in St Augustine called today and the 2015 Genesis Sedans were coming off the truck. Going to see it tomorrow.

it says 0W20 is good for cold weather start ups which I like since I'm up here in the North East.... I used to use this oil then switched... thinking of going back...

What's your profession? That's a lot of driving...

Couldn't help but notice that at 182K + miles your oil analysis is perfect while running a K&N filter.

So much for worrying about motors not lasting due to all the dirt a K&N filter passes......
