  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone swapped out the stupid little 194 bulb for an LED ?? i think it looks dumb when the HID are white and the 194 is yellowish,

There are other threads about this, i actually just did this last night. If you pull the dust cap from the hibeam, youll see where the 194 bulb is located, just pull it out and switch the bulbs. make sure to test and see if the bulb is in the right way before putting everything back together. Also, you will want to spend a little extra money and get an LED bulb with a metal heatsink so the heat of the hibeam wont ruin it.

Can someone give me a hand where those threads are? I searched, but couldn't find them...I have the high beam dust cover off. I'm struggling with removing the socket from the housing...does it just pull off or do you have to twist it? The access is pretty tight...

Yes, bought my LEDs from Amazon.com

Thanks...I bought mine from v-leds. I accomplished the driver's side tonight and will do the otherside tomorrow. Small needle nose pliers versus longer ones work well when pulling the socket out.

Did the passenger side today...definitely more room once the air box is removed, so the swap to led went much more quickly than the driver's side. Luckily, I had already purchased extra retainers for top cover since I couldn't figure out a way to remove them without breaking...anyone else have any better luck?

To remove those top push pins, push down right in the center with the eraser of the pencil or something similar. It will pop up and you can pull it out.

Not too difficult to change, although an angled needle nose is very helpful. I popped in some little red bulbs (non led) just to accent it and make it look a bit more grimacing. They are not too dim and not too bright (I don't need any more reasons for 5-0 to pull me over) :D

I tried that tonight and it works great! However, I thought the center would pop up, but it actually gets pushed in and then the entire fastener loosens and is easily removed.

I used the pencil eraser like you suggested. The center pin has to be pushed in far enough to make a "clicking" sound, then the entire fastener loosens and can be pulled out with your fingers. After you do it once, you figure out the amount of pressure it takes to make it click and then it's pretty easy.
