  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I found these 2 items floating around the spare tire area and wondered what they are. (See picture.)

The one on the left has a part number (81248-B1000) that has often been mentioned here in connection with the "torn trunk latch rubber" issue, but this thing is hard plastic. It does look like it would fit into the latch area (it's marked ("COVER-TRUNK LID LATCH"), but I don't see how or why. My trunk lid has been latching perfectly fine since 2015 without it. The item on the right has no markings. It is a simple 4" x 6" plastic tray covered in a flocking finish. I'm curious where it came from.
Thanks.

The hard plastic cover goes over the metal trunk latch, as shown below. It is not functional, just aesthetic.

The item on the right is the tray that goes in your center console.
