  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all,

i've two problems with my Genesis 2009.

1st problem is :
there is a strange noise in my car often when the speed between 80 - 120 k/h.
the noise DISAPPEAR when i remove my leg from acceleration paddle.

what could be the cause ?

2nd problem is :
there is a strange click (TIK) in the transmission stik when i press the brake paddle.

is this normal ? or i should change something ?

I don't know where you live, but since you mention kph, I assume it is not in the USA, so not sure what your drivetrain warranty is. If the car is under warranty, you should probably take it to a dealer.

That being said, there was a TSB for 2009 vehicles (maybe some 2010) regarding some noise on the rear axle at certain speeds. The fix was to add a spacer to the axle. Obviously, you would need to discuss this with your dealer.

Thanks for your reply.

i remembered that i'd never checked the C Oil (Differential oil) for the axle.

and about the tik in transmission stik ?

That's the shift lock solenoid that keeps the shift lever locked in park until you have your foot on the brake. A small vibration in the the shift handle is normal. If it is making a loud noise then ask your dealer as something may have come loose.

I had exactly the same noise in my 2009 3.8 and had mentioned it to the dealer a couple of times. They investigated, but I don't recall any actions. It only showed up at about 80,000 km and didn't appear to get any worse, so I lived with it until I changed the car at 120K.

hmmm,
i'm gonna change differential oil and see what will happen.

The slight clicking noise you mentioned is something myself and others have and continue to experience. Seems to be a normal thing.
