  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've had my 09' Genesis Sedan since day 1 straight out of the showroom and it has been an awesome car. No complaints with standard maintenance and now she's finally feeling her age :( She has clocked over 391,000 miles and seems to have developed a timing chain issue. My mechanic initially said it was time to retire her but it's hard to see a great car get "junked". So my mechanic suggested replacing the motor completely instead of doing the timing chains for fear the transmission will be next to go and I will have wasted the cost of replacing the timing chains. Has anyone replaced the chains in an 09? Could you share how much labor/cost was involved or is it best to either replace the motor or send her off to retirement!

Pretty impressive miles, the 3.8 is a great engine. I have a 2014 3.8 with 236,400 miles. I look forward to seeing any replies to this. I would look at Co-Part or IAA auctions for a similar vehicle in a crash damage state with lower miles and maybe work a deal if your car is in great condition.

Thanks for the info. I will look into it! Congrats on passing 200k and on your way to 300k! Sad seeing mine sit in the driveway...drove her home from mechanic and she purrs at 85...really feel my engine is still solid. I too look forward to anyone's insight or ideas:)

I left work today with a Charger, not sure if a Hemi or a 3.6 at my left and he had to beat me or relent. I backed off but then he took off from the left lane to the far right lane to get ahead of trucks and dumbassed people that love to camp in the left lane. I crested 100+mph and then he took the offramp to avoid paying the toll. My time is worth the toll. At 236,300, I decided not to press him when he was running 120mph. I have loved ones that I need to be around for.
