  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I know my 2009 4.6 has held it's value quite well and I've heard that in general dealers are paying top dollar for trade-in's these days.

I was toying with the idea of trading in my Genny (2009/black interior, black exterior/4.6/tech package/24000 miles) and getting a new 2012 or 2013 model.

Has anyone done this or gotten a trade-in quote from a dealer?

if it's clean, you're looking at 24-25k trade in value

ps if your genny hasn't been acting up or is not fraught w/ problems and you can live w/ the suspension, i would keep it for a while longer. also, the 6 speed zf german tranny you have is imo better than the new 8 speed.
save your money and enjoy your 2009 because they are a great car.

You read my mind. There isn't enough of a meaningful change to take the punishment of depreciation for a new car again. Doesn't make sense. Plus the Genesis Chapter 2 is not to far off, so see what they come up with.

Problem is if Chapter 2 is a killer then Chapter 1 will take a hit in value. On the other hand, they may go too modern a la TL which looks horrid IMHO. No matter how you slice or dice this the original version is a classic and will never be outdated. I put the Genny up there with older Mercedes, It will still look great even though they may be 10 years+ old. Regardless, there is not enough difference to warrant a change and I agree wait for the new revamped model and only then make your decision.

I agree. I wouldn't trade a 2009 for a 2012 or 2013 - the differences are very minimal.

I also share the concern about the 2014's though... if they "modernize" them beyond good taste (Acura is the PERFECT example), then I'll be holding onto my 2012 until it dies. The same would hold true for 2009-2011 if that's what I owned instead.

I suppose if you want to hold onto the car for a long time, or want to get into an R Spec... then why NOT do it? :)
