It is time for my 2009 Genny's original suspension to be replaced. With the help of many posts on this forum, I understand that folks have done varying levels of upgrade to 2009 suspension - from simple anti-sway bar (OEM 2012) to entire suspension setup (OEM 2012).
Now my mechanic says the springs look good and I only need new shocks. I was wondering if I could use 2012 shocks with the existing 2009 spring setup. I am updating to 2012 anti-sway bar too but new rear springs cost roughly $250 and I would rather put that money into upgraded rotors and pads upfront.
So please let me know if the 2012 shocks will work with 2009 springs for the 3.8L and if it might compromise the ride. Ultimately, if this Frankenstein fix will ruin the handling/drive comfort I will bite the bullet and upgrade springs too. Thanks for your time!
