  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2009 genesis 4.6 chugging or a miss sensation upon acceleration. Anyone else experience this?

Back to basics: Fuel and spark, sometimes compression.
1. Replace fuel filter, have injectors tested. Verify fuel pump is putting out proper pressure.
2. Check coils, plugs, wires.
3. and for good measure, have them test compression while the plugs are out.

This will happen whenever you are turning fairly sharply as you give it the gas. It is a fault in their ESS or traction control system. If the car experiences strong vertical or lateral G-force, the engine will cut out. This just happened with my 2009 4.6 yesterday, as I pulled out of a shopping center and was turning and accelerating at the same time. Mine even reduces engine power when using the cruise control whenever I hit choppy pavement that makes the car buck up and down a bit, such that the car will not maintain the set speed but rather slows down until the road smooths out.

I feel the hesitation or miss when I gradually accelerate from a stop. If I reach any speed and then maintain that speed, or put on cruise control, the miss or chugging stops. Going around corners doesn't seem to affect my situation.
