2009 genesis sedan 4.6 lost power steering

Hey guys I'm new to the forum and i recently bought a 2009 sedan 4.6 for about 6k and i freaking loved the car... it has about 115k miles. anyway i had been driving it daily for work and one day from a stop out of nowhere i lost power steering. The car runs/idles great and before i had the occasional steering wheel lockup and twitching at anything under 5mph usually only in reverse when getting out of a parking spot. I recently tried to diagnose it and realized my pump wasn't doing anything so i replaced it for a used one on ebay and now the pump works but still no power steering... with the wheels in the air it seems to turn great but all 4 on the ground it is like there is no power steering. after replacing the pump i heard a strange noise from the steering column almost a grinding sound at a specific point when im turning the wheel. it also looked like someone previously had the column apart so i will be diving into it and seeing if there's noticeable wiring issues. anyone have ideas on what the problem could be? thanks

Suggestions:

1. Bleed the system.
2. Check for a sticky flow control valve.
3. Find a mechanic with a GDS and look for codes (which could point to steering angle sensor or other steering related electric/system problems).

So I figured out that the problem was that the electric hydro power steering pump (EHPS) was not grounded correctly from the factory. The two main wires power and ground that connect to the pump itself were at fault. Trace the ground wire all the way back where it’s supposed to contact the frame and grind/ sand off the paint or undercoat in that area to make sure it’s getting a good contact mine was arcing against the frame almost like it was being welded. I assume this might be a big problem and common reason that the ecm’s in alot of these threads are shorting or frying. MAKE SURE THE GROUNDS ARE ACTUALLY BEING GROUNDED TO SOMETHING MAKING A CLEAN CONTACT!!

Can you give me a hint on where this grounding point is? Is it easily accessible or do I need to remove some stuff?
