  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Now i dont know about the rest of you but I myself was cracking up about that genesis commercial with the Ceo's from lexus & bmw screaming about hyundai winning the 2009 North American Car of the Year award, ( http://video.aol.com/video/video-category/2409737 ) now if i only can get it on a dvd so i can keep a copy in my genesis so every time some one gets in my car i can play it for them i'll be good then

and remember everyone its HYUNDAI like SUNDAY

THAT WAS GREAT!!!! And HYUNDAI...like Sunday...nailed it with this commercial. I bet all the luxury lines are trembling! :)

Also, all those who purchased the high dollar luxury cars prior to the Super Bowl will look at us cruising down the road and grit their teeth...as we leave them from the line and giggle!

I LOVE IT!!!!!

Superbowl commercials are all over the internet, including on YouTube. I am not sure, but I suspect you can download them.

that to me was the only good commercial from Hyundai. And I would be very surprised if any of the luxury brands are worried. Hyundai still has a long way to go.

The sales figures speak a lot louder than a SuperBowl commercial. Great commercial? Yes. A threat to the Lexus, BMW, etc.? Not quite . . . . yet.

If Hyundai improves the suspension on the US model, I think you are 100% wrong on that. I think the Genesis would be a very serious threat, especially if the dropped all the Hyundai badging and used the Korean "Genesis" badging.

I did say YET!

I'm glad you said YET! HA!

If I owned one of the other companies I would be worried. Not that my product was any different than the Hyundai Genesis but that my cost of our cars would steer people to Hyundai...especially with the way the market is. Yes, the Genesis is a game changer. How many of us here own/owned Lexus, Mercedes, and Beamers and now have a Hyundai taking the main parking spot. :)

Also, remember when Lexus first started they were laughed at by MB owners. But Lexus has hurt MB badly over the years, not just in units sold, but in prices that MB can charge.

I guess not everyone thought the Hyundai commercials were as entertaining as we Genesis owners did.

If USA Today’s Ad Meter knows what it’s talking about, the Super Bowl broadcast wasn’t a good day for the Orange County advertisers who tried to play ball on TV marketing’s largest stage …

The widely watched ad scoring system ranked O.C.-based TV maker Vizio’s ad about the smarts of its products’ owners as the big game’s worst of the 50 ads ranked.

Next-to-worst was O.C.-based automaker Hyundai Motor’s ad for its plans that lets buyers return a new car if they lose a job.

Third from worst was an Hyundai ad showing competitors jealous of its award-winning Genesis model.
Ranking 30th out of 50 was Irvine-based Taco Bell. It’s ad featured a guy wooing a girl with a value meal.
Best of the bunch, according to USA Today’s math, was a Doritos commercial about a “magical” crystal ball! Second-ranked ad was beer maker Budweiser’s circus ad.

3 of 4 ‘worst’ Super Bowl ads from O.C.

The cheesy accents and gestures were almost racist . What were they thinking?

I thought the commercial was great. As we say around here, "If you've done it, it ain't braggin!" As for the phony accents, has the reader seen the little black Volkswagen in their most recent commercials?

Ads that are negatively perceived can (and many times do) have a positive impact. Back in '82, Knoxville, TN, where I live, hosted the 1982 World's Fair. It got absolutely horrendous press from everyone...yes, I know you find it hard to believe, but including the press! Before the event was all over (a six-month run), it became the ONLY World's Fair (which actually started as an international energy exposition) to finish with a positive cash flow, and also made a profit. It turned out that apparently everyone "had" to come to Knoxville just to see how "bad" it really was! It wasn't bad at all...but the press (and therefore the impressions of the people) viewed it that way.

The SuperBowl showcased a young lady singing the National Anthem that Simon from American Idol, (so I'm told) a recognized authority on what people may like, discounted her value to the music-buying public. After listening to her rendition of that song, I'll bet there are few that wouldn't follow her career to at least some degree, i.e., buy a CD, etc.

Finally, the "experts" said that giving Congress $700 billion of OUR tax dollars would solve our national economic problems. Hmmmm.....

Guess the experts aren't always right!

There is no way a commercial is going to be voted high in Super Bowl polls unless it is very funny, or has a lot animals or kids.

But (as already noted) there is a big difference between "entertaining" and effective. The ad about the Hyundai assurance plan has been run before in slightly different form and has been proven to be very effective.

The Genesis ad was also effective IMO, but not sure it is worth $3 million (the going rate for 30 second commercial at a Super Bowl) given he limited market segment of the Genesis and the current state of the economy.

I couldnt tell you how many times I have been asked about the Hyundai Assurance program since the commercials rolled out. Given the nature of my job, rocket industry, our jobs come and go like the wind. In fact, just last Thursday, we announced a layoff of about 25 people.

People I have talked with think that the deal is amazing and a HUGE step for Hyundai even thought the commercial rating was low.

Well, truthfully, the people in the commercial poll are probably MB, BMW and Lexus owners who only wished their car manufacturer could offer them such a graceful program. :)

As much as the industry tries, advertising effectiveness is still difficult to measure. advertising remains more art than science. one of my agency clients used to complain that half the money he spent was wasted, he just wasn't sure which half.

I dont think it deserved to be third from worst. I thought the worst and most annoying commercial was the career builder commercial with the lady in the car, and then the lady riding a dolphin or something, and it kept flashing to these over and over. That commercial made me want to rip my hair out
