I have a 2009 V6 sedan with the tech package. It's currently at 74,000 miles. About a month ago, my problems started with the keyless entry button on the driver's side not working intermittently. When it wasn't working, I could hear a squishing sound when I pressed it, so I assumed some moisture had gotten inside from the cold weather. It would usually start working again after I drove it a little bit, but then it would randomly stop working at times.
Then two weeks ago I got in my car and noticed the seat belt warning chime came on as soon as I started the car and sounded weak. As I was driving down the road, the seat belt light kept flashing on and off even though I was buckled in. I thought my camera bag in the passenger's seat might have been causing it, so I pulled over, moved everything and then turned my car off. When I tried to restart the car, it wouldn't start. I waited a couple of minutes, tried again, and this time it started.
I didn't have time to take the car in right then, so I ran by my wife's workplace and switched cars with her. While I was out, I went ahead and bought a new battery. When I got back to my car about 2 hours later, it fired up just fine and didn't give any seat belt warning lights, so I just drove it home. I had the battery tested, and it did test weak, so I went ahead and replaced it.
Last night I was driving, and after about 20 minutes the seatbelt light started flashing again. It only did it for a few minutes and then stopped, and then didn't do it again the rest of the night. This morning I went out and the door button wasn't working again. I drove to the grocery store with no problems, but when I came back out and pushed the button on the door, it unlocked but then triggered the car alarm. I pulled my keys out and started hitting the alarm button, but it refused to stop until I shut the door and locked it again.
Last year I had to replace the rubber stopper under the hood for the alarm system activation after the battery died on me a couple different times. I haven't had any problems since then until now, and I've never had a battery warning light or check engine light come on. Only the seatbelt light. It sounds like possibly an alternator problem, but my local Hyundai dealership is pretty much useless if you don't have a warning light or they can't replicate the problem. Last time I took it in for a brake issue and ended up paying $150 for them to drive it around the block, replace the brake fluid and tell me there was nothing wrong with it. Any ideas on what could be causing this before I take it in?
Also, not sure if this could be related, but back in the fall the moon roof broke and wasn't closing right. I saw some of the plastic on the tracks had broken, and after pulling the broken pieces out, I was able to get it closed and haven't opened it since. Is it possible that water is getting inside through there and causing the electrical problems? It did rain yesterday.
