    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Good morning. My USB doesn't recognize when I plug in my phone for music. Anyone know of a fix for this?
 
The USB port in the 1st generation Genesis cars were originally designed to support ipods (yeah those) and do not function as one would normally"expect in a car. Specifically: 1) they lack sufficient power output to charge a phone, and 2) they do not support audio streaming. The adjacent headphone jack is used for audio.

To work around, you need to purchase a bluetooth dongle like this Chelink adapter I've used for over 10 years now (a few of them, they last a few years, burn out, then I buy another:
