  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm wondering if anyone can confirm if how some features work on my car and if they are correct or not. Some seem to disagree with what my manual says.

1. When locking the car with the fob there is no external indication. The parking lights do not blink and there is no beep. looking in the windows I can see that the car is locking. The beep when locking feature is selected "on" and the lights do blink and I get the beep when locking using the button on the door.

2. My fuel mileage seems to always be for the current trip and not cumulative. Every time I get in the car the mileage is very low as I drive in town then with highway miles it rises relatively rapidly and the more I drive the less easily it changes as you would expect for trip mileage. I have not reset the mileage or trip odometers. It does the same thing regardless if the main odometer, trip A or B is selected.

3. This one I've seen elsewhere on the board. I do not get the command confirmation when using the voice recognition even though it is selected "on". I say "call dad cell" and the next thing I hear is the phone ringing and on the display it has called Brian's cell. Which leads me to; what's the quickest way to cancel a mis-dialed call?

Can I adjust any of these features on my own or are these only changed by the dealer?

Everything you stated is in the settings menus of the particular feature, which also includes language choices.

On number one...there is a possibility that the rubber bumper under the hood that pushes the button to tell the car cpu that the hood is closed may be missing or mis-adjusted. This would allow the lock/unlock to work, but the "beep" that indicates the alarm is armed will not sound. Same thing happens if you lock it with the fob and the trunk is open, no beep. In other cases this bumper being missing has caused a persistent battery drain when the car sits for a few days. If you drive enough, you may never see the battery drain issue...There was a TSB for this in the earlier models...Just something to check...Good Luck

On number two, there was a discussion of this recently. The car does reset the average MPG on it's own under some circumstances and there were opinions expressed on both sides of the issue....The elapsed time also resets automatically.

Three...no help...

Not 100% sure about 2011, but on 2009 the MPG resets when you fill up tank (always) and when you hold down reset button on steering wheel for a few seconds.

Thank you rwlewis. I checked under the hood and there is no rubber bumper over the switch. When I hold down the switch and press the lock button on the fob I get the chirp and blinking lights I expected so that pretty much confirms it.

This is where living a bit out really bites. I loose half a day just to get the dealer to look at it and say "yep, you're missing that twenty cent rubber bumper".

Cool....:D

Glad I could help....Try calling the service dept and see if they will send you the rubber bumper...it would be alot cheaper for them to not have to waste time seeing your car at the dealership for a 20 cent part...Likely they will say no, but it is worth a shot if you get the right type of guy on the phone....

I got the usual "bring it in and we'll take care of it" so I have contacted my salesman to see if he can help. Otherwise I have the GM's name and E-mail. I purchased the car from a dealer 200 miles away and my closest Hyundai dealer is an hour each way so I really want to avoid killing half a day for a little rubber bumper.

How did you get the diagram to appear on the HyundaiOEMparts website? When I follow your link I can see the hood parts diagram but whenever I look for any other parts or when I burrow through the menus to the part I can see the part names but no diagrams. Do you have to be logged in?

The only way seems to be to drill down to an individual part. There are then three small blue buttons under the price. The leftmost one says "View Illustration". The middle is "Add to Cart" and the right is "?". Select view illustration. Then you can shop from the list of parts in that illustration...

Kind of funky that you cannot "shop" for a part using the illustrations/diagrams until you get down to a single part, but...

R-Spec does this as well.
