  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2011 Equus is Announced

It looks SO MUCH BETTER!

It really does look great and you can see the small but significant cosmetic changes for the North American version. This car is going to rock but Hyundai has to score a homerun on advertising otherwise no one will know about the car.

I would be perfectly happy with the 5 passenger version myself. In a perfect world, this is my Chrysler Imperial!

It really does look better. Still need to see one up close. Hard to believe it is big enough to justify the leg extender for the back seats. I guess we'll see soon enough. I agree about the advertising. People need to know it's out there and at mid 50's this car is going to put alot of pressure on the Lexus 460.

Rear seat legroom does appear to come up short. The way they advertised the car I was under the impression it had atleast 41 inches of rear legroom. The car is 7.2 inches longe than the Genesis is that all in the wheelbase I wonder? netcarshow.com has some high res press pics of the car. Beautiful. Does the car have daytime running lights?

$55k for an Equus, $65k for an LS, Hyundai will have a hard time selling the Equus unless it comes with all the options that make an LS $75k.

It look like a base 460 with a basic package come in at 70k. The 460l comes in at that 75k price point. Not sure how the 460l and the Equus size up though. So it looks like around a 15k difference not huge but certainly enough to sway non loyalist Lexus people. Of course it will come down to how it rides.

I don't think it looks nearly as clean looking as the Genesis, and I wonder if it will meet their modest sales goals. The V8 Genesis didn't sell nearly as well as the 6...I suspect there is considerable resistance at $40K. There will be more at $50K.

I prefer the vertical grill and the hood ornament - I think it looks a lot classier and sharper that way. Hopefully there will be a way to "rebadge" that :)

Beautiful car.

One advantage, I guess, of having a base price in the mid $50s is that there is room to add features/packages to the Genesis - height adjustable ventilated passenger seat, adjustable suspension and transmission, supercharged engine - without bumping up against the price of the Equus. We can hope.

In all honesty, I am glad I bought the Genesis. I am sure there is a market for this but there is really nothing that screams "Wow". Almost a little too much inside turning it into something kinda tacky IMHO.

Agreed! While the U.S. spec Equus doesn't look bad at all, I prefer the Korean spec Equus with the original grill and ornamentation. Of course, I am sure that the Korean spec parts will be available for the North American market.

At least they dumped the Buick grill. ! Parallel Lines look closer together, Buick Grill vertical for tall and narrow,, Horz grill for low and wide. Ever notice the MB line and the GM line.

I notice on the pics above, the Equus has the "H" badge on the rear.

The more I see the happier I am I bought the Genny even with the Harsh ride.

Having seen it and sat in it, I doubt anyone who buys one will be disappointed. My only disappointment is that it has the features I want that the Genesis lacks, but is bigger than my wife wants. That and direct injection engines, 8-speed transmissions, and next gen nav may be a year or more away.

While a little bland, it looks and feels luxurious, well engineered, and well made.
