2011 sedan 3.8 vvt monitor not reading

Took car in to get smogged in calif. No codes no check engine light but did not pass due to vvt monitor not reading. Battery has never been removed
Was told by Hyundai service rep that they needed to drive it 3000 miles to clear the code, I left.
Found the drive cycle but impossible to do due to traffic in Sacramento.
One smog tech said the vvt solenoids are bad or going bad.
Anyone have any ideas? Car only has 68,000 miles

Dealer wouldn't guarantee they could fix it so took it to local garage and they fixed it.
They ran the Kia test on it after the test hyundai recommends failed 3 times.
If you are close to Sacramento I will give you their number.
They charged 190 compared to 300 for dealer and they guaranteed their work.

Thanks. Just updating the thread in case someone in the future finds this helpful for the Socal/Los Angeles area.

Glendora Hyundai (ask for John) was able to reset the cycle. Charged for one hour of labor - $140. Basically they had two techs in the car, one driving, other with a computer plugged in. Cycle has something like 17 monitors that need to go green, and took them about 30 miles of driving to get them all to switch to ready. Got the car back yesterday, passed the smog same day.
