I recently had the opportunity to drive a new 2012 3.8L base Genesis for about 2000 miles. I was surprised by the less than brisk acceleration off the line. I had a 2007 G35X with less power and it shot off the line like a bat out of hell.
This evening I had the opportunity to drive a new 2012 3.8L with the premium package. Drastically different feel to that car, accelearation off the line is a different animal as well, as a matter of fact, the Genesis w/Premium chirps the tires off the line.
Some observations between the two vehicles...
1. Premium seat feels different, firmer and higher than the baseline model
2. Transmission in both auto and manual shift seems faster by a noticable degree
3. Acceleration off the line if drastically different
4. Steering has a heavier feel (possibly the 18 inch wheels)
5. The 14 speaker sound system is light years better than the stock 7 speaker system
Can anyone offer any insight on this - especially the acceleration and faster transmission observation? Is it a programming difference?
One more question - 2012 Black 3.8L with premium package and Black interior... Is the center console around the shift knob wood (as the cashmere interior) or gloss black?
Thanks!
