  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi I am new to the forums. I just purchased a used 2012 3.8 sedan with 30k miles. When I drive it, it pulls slightly to the right. I thought it was the alignment so i had it fixed. The mechanic fixed it but he says that the car's driver side brake rotor is worn out and thats why it pulls to the right. Needless to say that it still pulls to the right. My question is has anyone experienced the same problem, and if yes, do the symptoms match the problem? Thanks.

Not sure why a brake rotor would cause a car to pull to the opposite side while driving. Maybe when braking, but driving? Have the tires rotated from front to back and if the pull changes then its a bad tire with radial pull. Also, check the carfax report for accidents. Its a 2012 car and has a manufacturers warranty until 60,000 miles. Have a dealer check it and fix anything that is under warranty.

Thanks for the reply. To clarify the mechanic says that the car pulls heavily to the right when braking at high speeds. He attributes this to the rotor. Normal driving it just pulls to the right. I will get it checked but are you sure this is covered by the warranty? Thanks again.

from what you state it can still be a bad tire. If the rotor is bad due to a defect then its covered under warranty. If it is just worn out then no. What about the brake pad wear? The Genesis uses high quality Ceramic pads and if you need pads don't go cheap. I have 106,000 miles on my original pads and about 15k to 20k left on them. You should tell us the details about your car. Tech pkg? or no, wheel size, mileage, brand and name of tires.

Thank you, you are very helpful. What pads do you suggest and what is the price?

I no info on pads or cost for the Genesis. I have not needed brakes. When I do I will have dealer do the work with oem pads.
