  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well I have been an indecisive MESS for the last 3 weeks while trying to find something to replace a totaled Acura TL. I was trying desperately to register to this forum for input, but could not get "authorized" to post. Finally created a new email and registered again. There was enough good info on here already to make the decision though.

After looking at the Genesis (all types), CTS, TL, M35, 535i, and a few others, I finally bought a 2012 Genesis 4.6. I was looking for a basic daily driver that was at least a little bit fun to drive but I think I went WAYYYYY overboard! I could have gotten a base 2013 Genesis with about 36k miles on it for around $16,000 and it drove beautifully. Somehow I talked myself into the 4.6 with 32k for $22,000. Seems like a LOT of car for the money. I found it out of state, but all the same cars around me were going for $1000's more.
I think I let the fact that it seemed like a great deal get the better of me! The 3.8 base model was an amazing car! Hope I don't regret this......

Glad you got the 4.6 which gives you moar power.
Welcome to the Genesis forum.

Welcome! Great call on the 4.6. I was in the same boat and went for it after feeling the power. Not one to push it, it's always nice to know its there when needed (and surprise those bimmer guys when able to stay alongside)

How funny, I just bought the same car after my Acura RL blew up (head gasket). I test drove a series of luxury brands, and decided the Genesis gave the best bang for the buck. Wound up purchasing a 2012 4.6 liter V8 loaded to the gills.

Lots of fun, more power than I need, and I am still smiling!

It is a great car.

Seems a tad pricey... but if you enjoy the car, then it is worth the price of admission.

In March of this year, I got a 2011 4.6 - 11,000 Miles, CPO, extended warranty for roughly $27,500 OTD (taxes, tags, etc... all included)

This did not include any trade in of almost 10K for my 09 Accord with 97,000 Miles on the clock

so for 18K... I'm digging this ride!

Are you saying the 22,000 is a tad pricey? Its $5,700 less than the cost of your 2011 if I'm reading that correctly, but I don't know what the extended warranty is worth so maybe you got a much better deal? Maybe I should have looked longer than I did, but I made that offer on plenty of local cars, and nobody even got close, so this seemed pretty good. If the Edmunds true market value is worth anything, it says I paid somewhere near trade-in value??
Oh well, too late now.
