  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Since purchasing my 2012 Genesis 5.0 R-Spec, the single most annoying thing (outside of the tranny) is the constant failure of that weird ass aux cord with that has to have the USB/Aux connector. I have am now on my 4th cord and connecting it to connect to my Iphone is, at best, a 30% success rate. Everything is setup correctly but it continues to say "F$ck off" and won't connect.

Has anybody had this issue or can advise of a solution?

Any help would be appreciated as I love my Gennie but it is hard for me to believe that Hyundai absolutely shit the bed on the aux cord setup:)

Thanks,

Jim Ryan

I am very disappointed too about this crap... The only way I could use my iPhone X or 11 is some BT receiver/transmitter... it has 3.5 regular in/out cable and USB for power/charge... Used for about 5 days - no issues, but there is no any control from the car.
Funny - my apple watch could be used while driving to skip songs.....

I had an the HMA OEM old style (big plug) iPod adapter with a very old ipod in my '09. Worked OK as long as the iPod wasn't too hot (a problem here in FL).

For phone BT connectivity, these Chelink adapters are $16 on Ebay or $28 on Amazon... I've had one for a little over a year. Works fine, although you don't get FF & RW control from the car steering wheel.

Yeah... I was eyeballing 2 of these Chelinks and I really do not like most of the reviews..... Guess it is hit or miss result?

For $16 ... yep it's a cheap solution, but it works. I recently ordered a second. My first one at is starting to go bad (15 months old), as it won't reach full volume and it's starting to make digital noise (bad cap or chip failing).

I don't expect a Rolls Royce when I'm paying for a Yugo. I have no problem throwing fifteen bucks at it every year or so.

Thanks so much. Just ordered it. So no wires necessary as it creates the wireless connection to stream music correct?

Yes. Just plug & pair ... and play.

I just got my replacement in the mail this week... works as intended. (y)

The chelink works but the audio quality is terrible and steering controls don't work.
The physical versions of these knockoff hyundai chinese cables work, audio is decent, however steering controls don't work.

Ultimately I ended up buying an OEM hyundai cable with the 30 pin ipad adapter, then a GENUINE apple 30 pin to lightning adapter off ebay ($40). The genuine adapters have a special apple chip in them and are absolutely required. The audio quality with this setup is fantastic, the phone charges, and steering controls work.

The only problem is that about 10% of the time it randomly won't play apple music or connect as an ipod, and it's actually an apple/ios problem not hyundai. The trick is to open up youtube or some other audio app (not itunes or apple music). It will then "connect" as an ipod when you press the aux button and works fine from then on out. Steering controls work, song display works. I greatly prefer this setup even though it's more expensive and I occasionally have to turn on youtube and hit play to "reset" the connection.

Will try this if the Bluetooth adapter is shitty! Weird that I buy a new weird connector and it works perfectly then just stops after about a month

Are you using a genuine apple 30 pin to lightning converter? Apparently there is essentially some sort of anti piracy chip inside related to passing audio through the lightning interface. It doesn’t matter for charging or straight audio. But if the iPhone is going to function as an iPod and passthru song info etc then it matters. I found the fix above on the apple forums. Apparently running YouTube is what resets the chip/data/security protection. All of this mess started around ios11.

Thanks so much for the info. Will get the products you mention as it is a real bummer when you are wanting to rock your “high speed music” and the damn thing won’t connect😂😂😂

sorry to say but the 2013 model does not have this issue because it has bluetooth

Get this, the manufacturer of the bluetooth adapter mention here (Ebay) emailed me and their plant has been shut down by the goverment and converted for use for something to battle that coronovirus!! The email said they will be back to manufacturing in 2 weeks but DAMN, that shit is way worse in China than they are letting on.
