  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012 5.0 RSpec Transmission delay

"supposed" <-- operative word.

So yeah it has bigger rims (19" vs 18"), lower & firmer suspension, bigger engine than the 4.6, bigger front brake discs, stiffer springs and dampers ... so yeah somewhat more performance oriented to get you around corners, perhaps. But Trans, Diff, cooling, tuning and weight ... still luxobarge. There's also no "sport mode" as I recall in the Rspec that would change the drivetrain to higher performance settings (throttle mapping, trans shift points & clutch engagement speed/pump pressure, shorter diff gearing, etc.) than for example the non-R 5.0 or 4.6 in 2012.

One thing I've noticed recently after putting some 93 octane in the tank is much more spirited response (and torque) from the engine. And I'm getting 21.8 mpg vs. my normal 18. Car has 80k miles. Might be my right foot, but my Genny is my DD and my butt dyno never lies (really, honest!). Maybe it's cleaned up a bit with the 93 after a few years of steady 87 use. So if you're not getting what you want out of the car, try a tank or two of premium.

PS -- The Genesis is not a performance car. This is a performance car:

Touche’😂😂😂. I always run 93 in the R-Spec. Damn Chevy guys always flexin’ on us four door “grandpa” cars! All good man and that is a beautiful Corvette wannabe😂😂😂

Thanks for all the inputs! Not being very mechanically gifted has its drawbacks, but I am lucky to have a local shop that I trust 100% to help my not f$ck shit up doing it myself😂🤮🤮

Any recommendations on brand or reputable vendor? Thanks so much!

Support this guy right here people swear by this product there are videos all over instagram very easy install.. works for any BK or BH pllatform.. Also this guy is currently in the works along with his fabricator on a True CAI. Headers planned as well. Along with alphaspeedpr they've made it possible to custome tune the 3.8 ECU remotely even(they send you all the gear you'd need laptop software etc) from what they've told me 5.0 is to follow eventually. Now that 3.8s can be tuned I'm hoping for a possible 3.8T kit from Remnant performance since they just released a 3.8T kit for both BK platforms.. I talked to remnant performance and they said if they get enough traction theyd defintely consider it! This is huge!

Dustin also does P&P work.

Also sprint booster is a brand name of throttle controller so that's another option.

CaliGen, just reviewer the product info on their website (Hyundai Genesis Sprint Booster) and it made logical sense and followed that with some YouTube videos. I will be ordering one in the morning and will report back next week.

That's cool I was just giving you another option that accomplishes the same thing and is half the price of a sprint booster.
