  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just bought a bk1 and it has a transmission or engine problem. I’m buying it from someone I know and they just replaced the trans on it. The reason he replaced it was because the car decided to stay in fourth gear randomly or atleast that’s what he thinks ( it revs to 4k before moving and is very jerky once it starts moving). He took it to a shop and they said it needed a trans so he replaced it. It’s been a few months since it was replaced, apparently he was doing donuts and the trans decided to stay in fourth gear again. I scanned the car and there was a lot of dtc’s ( I attached a photo of them below). The battery was dead from sitting so I replaced it and cleared all the codes. I drove it for a block and it still has the trans problem. But now there is only one code that comes up, a p2261 for bypass valve a (it says it’s a permanent code and wasn’t there when I originally scanned it). I have some ideas on why it’s throwing the code(there’s a tear in the boost piping). Also there are abs and traction control lights on but neither my bluedriver or Carista can find any codes. When my Carista scans it it says it can only read the engine control unit. One of my original thoughts was the ecm, tcm or both are fried. Is there a way to test these modules?. I did some research on other forums but haven’t found anything. I did find that it’s possible the transmission is in limp mode. Is it possible that the bypass valve code caused a limp mode? I checked the trans fluid and it looked clean. I’m going to drain it all tonight and check for metal or clutch material. I did notice that the coolant was really low (not even visible through the radiator cap). Is there a way that the trans fluid and coolant mixed and is throwing off the transmission? This car is a project for sure but I’m hoping to get it running soon and I’m definitely excited to drive it. Any help is very appreciated.
