If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all,

The skid plate that goes under the engine came off the car and looks like it has torn off of part of the skid plate that is still attached. Does anyone know of an outlet that might sell the skid plate for less than a Hyundai dealer?

Also, it is okay to drive it around town without the skid plate, assuming we don't scrape the bottom of the engine on anything? I think that if I take the new skid plate with me to the oil change place next time I get the oil changed, they will install it for me since they always have to take it off and put it back anyway each time they change the oil.

It's actually a splash shield not really a skid plate. I drove my Passat for 100,000 miles without the splash shield after a few fasteners gave up the ghost. No problems for me.
The front portion is Part Number:29110-3N000 $105.00 and the rear portion is Part Number:29120-3M100 $99.00.
Available from Rear Shield - Hyundai (29120-3M100) | hyundaiparts

Thanks! Yeah, the shield that came off looks like the rear one in your link. I wonder how important the shield is on the Genesis 4.6? And I also wonder if the shield might serve to limit road noise entering the cabin to some extent? I think part of it is still attached to the car.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
It looks like the screws or bolts which fasten the splash plate to the car are gone. Does anybody know if I can get suitable bolts from a hardware store, or would I be better served to get them from Hyundai? Thanks.

Hardware store would be fine if you know what you need. Most carry metric sizes now. Perhaps someone here knows the size and can help.

Is it safe to drive without the splash shield? The plastic oil filter can on the 3.8 would be completely exposed to crap off the road.

Great question. Now my front splash plate is in the process of coming off the car. The rear one came off some time ago.

Well if it's purpose is to keep the road crap from becoming engine compartment crap...
