  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Do you need the secondary filter? My clips broke and I can sit it in there but doesn’t click in. Thanks

secondary filter? Please elaborate? Pictures? There are 2 "air" filters in the car. One in the airbox under the hood for the engine, and one behind the glove box which if your cabin air filter. They are not primary/secondary to each other, they both have very different purposes and both are required.

There is an air filter under the hood and one above that one in the top cover. I tried to take it out and I cracked of the pins that hold it in. So I just placed it in. I thought if I remove it it would let more air in the engine for more power.

I would fix it when you get a chance. Having more power (if that is actually true) is to the advantage of the manufacturer, and the fact they put the filter there means there was some offsetting reason why they did it (even if it did yield more power, which is not proven).

I know a lot of people think that the manufacturer engineers who designed the engine air intake system are stupid idiots, and companies like K&N are much smarter, but I seriously doubt that is actually the case.

I'm definitely out of the loop on this one. This must be something they changed after 2009 because I've never seen 2 air filters in my intake system. Any of you guys have pictures? Now im intrigued.

I’ll try and get a pic.

I think he is talking about a small foam filter that is attached to the bottom side of the engine cover. It is probably not a maintenance item, except when it breaks off the engine cover.

There is also one above the air filter in the breather box attached with small peg clips. I just placed it in where it was then closed it.

Found out that the foam filter on the top inside the filter box is to prevent emission gases from escaping. Friend says I don’t need it.
