  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just thought I would post my thoughts on the CAI System that I ordered about 2 months ago. The install was pretty easy but you do have to remove a little more stuff from the R-SPEC air system than I expected. Yes it was a little scary at first but I took a few pictures as I went along.

1st impression - when idling and you press on the gas,I thought it would sound a little better than it does, so i was a little disappointed at first, but then i took it on the test drive.....yes!!!!!When driving at low or normal speed you can't even tell that you've changed anything(which i have grown to love) because the car is still super quite and a great "sleeper" But when you give it a little gas,you can hear the rumble under the hood. My girlfriend didn't like it, but I loved it!

Yes, you will punch it and I did a few times, actually I still punch it, just to hear the sound because at WOT.... It sounds amazing. Does it improve HP I can't honestly say, I did not put it on the Dyno but I will as soon as I have the time. But it feels a little quicker...lol..

Gas mileage. I have notice a lil increase in GM (when I drive like a normal person) but to be honest if I was concerned about GM I would have bought a different car. Sorry, I know that sounds "non-green" but it's the truth. So when I drive in normal everyday traffic and not like a crazy person I get 19is in the city and 27-28.5 HWY ( last trip was from KC mo. to Jacksonville, FL. Traveling around 75-80mph)

Now when I drive it like I stole it! It's less, 16 - 17ish in the city and 22ish on the Highway. Can I say these are the most accurate numbers no, but that's what the average fuel consumption tells me on the dash, so you can take it for what it's worth. Those are the numbers for the last two months.

As with anything, it's personal choice and taste. Is it worth what I paid for it...well I had the money and I wanted it so I bought it. But that's up to you. Could it be cheaper, yes but I didn't do the R&D or fabrication of the product so I paid for it.

I've had the system installed on my baby for the last two months and no check engine lights or anything so far. I even took the car to the local dealer( was going to trade the car for a white EQUUS) and the dealer loved it. After driving the EQUUS for 2 days I realized I'm not ready for a full on lux car, I love my luxury sport sedan. And yes I can call it that because I moved from a 2010 BMW 550I, so i know the about them, But that's another story.

So far, I have painted the grill to match the body, installed the rear spoiler and added red brake caliper covers. Not sure I will do anything else but I am looking at the sprint booster, so we will see. I will try to attach so pictures of my baby and the CAI. I am open to any thoughts, questions or complaints that you may have. Thanks to all....I apparently have to resize the photos so, I'll have to do that when I'm not on my IPAD, Sorry.

I figured I should say, there has never in the history of time been a gas mileage improvement from running an aftermarket intake on a stock/relatively stock car. It's purely placebo.

You didn't post what you bought.

Is this Driv200's CAI? Pics would be nice.

Need Pics and more info OP!!!! youve left us hanging!

It is the Driv2000 CAI and as soon as I can adjust the resolution of the pix I will load them up. Sorry.

Not this shit again.

Sorry, but a CAI on these cars likens itself to a turbo charger on a 1.8L engine. You think it's cool, but you're the only one.

I support turbo's and tossing one on a 1.8 would provide quantifiable benefit.

Perhaps your thinking about blow off valves for the turbo ?

ppp

Nope, I meant what I said.

See: http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/off-topic/327624-anyone-else-fed-up.html (my post on different forum).

I have been fed up with turbo tiny cars for a while.

OP sorry for diverting thread a bit... while we wait for your pics :)

OFG,

guess we'll just disagree on this one. I'm guessing you concern is based upon manufacturers lowering the displacement and offsetting it with the turbo for economy reasons. (we may need to do a thread elsewhere if this thread gets spooled up ;). For this reason i agree.

But take my crv 2.4 liter or whatever its got. It has perhaps 40 HP at 3000 RPM put a turbo on a smaller engine 1.8 or and it would have 100HP. Majority of the time were always in the low rev ranges. Having a 160hp engine that has all the power up top is a turd. in this regard I'll take the smaller engine with a turbo.

bmw learned from their recent 3 series N54 turbo design which is why they are putting it all over the place. please reference their V8 M3 stats vs N54 with Dinan 2 tune. logic would dictate v6 turbo better then the V8.

thoughts ?

Me thinks we need a separate thread for this. It could get large lol

deal, we'll fire it up shortly, kinda burnt from work, if you dont I'll make it over the next few days. forums boring anyways so it'll liven it up abit !

I'm confused......

I've had both a 1.8 turbo and now a 2.0 turbo.

Here's my 2.0 turbo racing a Mazda RX-8:

and the same car racing a Yamaha FZ-8:

Daily driver, well when I wasn't slouching around in my old Genesis V8 and now Audi Q5.

By the way, that video of me at the drag strip was when I was dyno'd @ 460 hp (stock internale, stock head, stock injectors, stock drivetrain....just bolt on performance and software)

Now the car has had head work and re-calibrated tune. It's making 520 hp.

again, daily driver.

Bringing back a dead thread eh?

why not...Had to squelch all the 4cyl turbo hating going on. Just trying to educate the hater. :)

So what the hell was the CAI the OP never following through on? I can't find a Driv2000 intake anywhere else.

I recognize the name and believe he did purchase one of my intakes. You guys scared him off. Easy...Easy. :grouphug:

Maybe if your nice, he will post again. If you need pics, PM me. I need to know if my PM is working.

Thanks.
