I have seen a lot of people have had issues with can bus issues and I believe my car is having similar issues. I'm hoping someone can point me to the best place to start looking as I've been fighting with this car since I purchased it over a year ago. To start, I have a 2012 Genesis R-Spec sedan with around 110,000 miles on it that I got at a local auction with no disclosed issues. After driving it for just a short period of time I started to have issues with both the EPB and the transmission. On top of those 2 pretty blatant issues, the gauges would randomly act up and other lights would come on at time. Once restarting the car the random issues usually subsided, but the transmission and ebb issues were constant. I took it to my local dealer while under an aftermarket warranty and they changed the EPB and transmission. They also replaced the alternator and I had replaced the battery the week I took it to the dealer. The dealer had my car for 5 months trying to fix all of the issues. On my way home from the dealer, many of the lights came back on again. I called them and their response was I could give it back to them to keep looking for the issues, but they were at a loss. They said it looked like it was exposed to water underneath the car for a prolonged amount of time. I spent thousands above what the warranty covered and still have to deal with issues.
At that point in time, the only lights that would be on continuously was the airbag warning lamp. It showed as B1493 (faulty pass seat switch/poor connection. Also a parking sensor would constantly trigger, but I can live with those issues. The Auto Hold, EPB and ESC lights would randomly come on, but would always go away.
I was okay driving with those minor issues, and scheduled my annual inspection and the day before I had more issues. I hit a pot hole (thank you PA) and all of a sudden things went haywire. The car continued to run and drive well, but an electrical connection was definitely lost. Here is a list of all of the issues I now have:
-Tachometer no longer working (will randomly bounce up, just to drop again in a second)
-no reading from the temp gauge
-TPS light on with no indicator on the car diagram
-TPMS light on
-Auto Hold light on
-ESC light on
-EPB light on
-airbag light on
-transmission indicator is gone (flashes back when tach moves)
-adaptive front lighting system light comes on and goes off randomly
-warning light for adaptive cruise control, system does not function
-OBD port does not connect to any scanner. Power is available, but no communication
I'm assuming many of these systems are tied together thru a section of the wiring harness, a relay, a ground or something simple. Any help in knowing where to start would be greatly appreciated as I do enjoy the car.
